Don’t Expect Rainbow Six Siege 2–Creative Director Explains Why It’s Not Happening Yet

This month marks the 10th anniversary of Rainbow Six Siege, a remarkable achievement for a game that’s constantly updated. Since its release in 2015, the popular tactical shooter has become a major esports title, attracting 85 million players worldwide. A significant update earlier this year revitalized the game, bringing both new and returning players back into the action.

Will there ever be a Rainbow Six Siege 2? According to creative director Alexander Karpazis in an interview with TopMob, a sequel isn’t likely in the near future. Ubisoft wants to continue supporting the current game and honor the time and money players have already put into it.

There are definitely pros and cons to consider,” Karpazis explained. “But our main goal is to keep the game enjoyable, successful, and competitive, especially given its history. We’ve seen other games where players feel like their progress is erased when a sequel comes out, and we don’t want to do that to our community. We want to respect the time and effort players have put in, and we also feel like we’re building something special that we don’t want to abandon.

Okay, so I finally jumped into the Siege X update for Rainbow Six Siege, and it’s pretty cool! They’ve really revamped things – the tutorial is way better for new players, the maps look awesome with all the updates, and the graphics are seriously improved. But the biggest thing? They added a new 6v6 mode called Dual Front, and it’s a blast! If you haven’t checked it out yet, you definitely should.
