After an 18-year wait since 2007’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is finally here! Samus Aran has some new abilities, like a cool new bike called the Vi-O-La. However, if you want to listen to extra background music while exploring the deserts of planet Viewros, you’ll need to spend $30 or purchase a Samus Aran Amiibo figure.
Players recently found out that using the Samus Amiibo unlocks a feature called Vi-O-La Radio. This lets you customize the music while exploring the Sol Valley desert on the Vi-O-La vehicle. While there’s already background music, Vi-O-La Radio allows you to select tracks from other parts of the game. Completing the game unlocks two more music tracks for the radio.
The background music in Sol Valley isn’t unpleasant, and it actually seems to hint at the planet’s backstory. While it’s not essential, some players feel they shouldn’t have to pay extra for something that could have been part of the original game.
Scanning the Samus Amiibo adds music to the game, while the Vi-O-La Amiibo lets you unlock new skin options for Vi-O-La. The Sylux Amiibo unlocks extra cutscenes after finishing the game, but you can also earn those by fully scanning everything in the game.
