Fans are puzzled by the recently released posters for Spider-Noir, wondering how the show fits into the larger Spider-Verse movie universe.
Nicolas Cage is set to star as Spider-Man Noir in a new live-action superhero series. The show, developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, is expected to debut in 2026.

Why are fans confused about Spider-Noir’s connection to the Spider-Verse movies?
Posters for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hint that Nicolas Cage will voice a Spider-Man character named Ben Reilly. In the Marvel comics, Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker, originally known as the Scarlet Spider. He’s evolved over time, even becoming a villain called Chasm in more recent storylines.
The Spider-Noir character voiced by Nicolas Cage in the Spider-Verse movies is a different version of Spider-Man than the one appearing in the upcoming show. This means the Spider-Noir we see in the show won’t be the same character as the one from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
There might still be a link between this Ben Reilly and the Peter Parker from the Spider-Verse movie, as he could be a clone of that version. However, even though Spider-Noir is set within Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, there’s no guarantee the two characters are connected. Regardless, fans are curious about why Ben Reilly is the focus of Spider-Noir instead of the original Peter Parker.
The show follows a former superhero, now a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York. He’s getting older and facing hard times, and is forced to confront his previous life as the city’s protector.
While a specific release date hasn’t been revealed, Spider-Noir is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
