The Amazing Spider-Man storyline is currently divided into two separate narratives. Peter Parker was left stranded in space by the villain Hellgate, but after being saved by a cruel alien scientist, he liberated the scientist’s test subjects. Now, Peter is working with these aliens to return them to their home planets, all while secretly training to become stronger so he can eventually defeat Hellgate. Meanwhile, on Earth, Norman Osborn is attempting to take over Spider-Man’s role and protect the city.

The preview shows a tender scene between Spider-Man and Raelith, where Peter attempts to explain his home to her. Raelith is drawn to Spider-Man’s kindness – a stark contrast to what she’s used to as a warrior. There’s a charming moment on the ship where Peter says a certain area smells like a Strawberry Starburst, and Raelith playfully concludes that’s what Earth must be like, seeing Peter as genuinely sweet.
Peter points out that life on Earth is much tougher than Raelith realizes. This makes her second-guess her assumptions about him, and she starts to worry about whether kissing him earlier was a mistake. Peter assures her it’s alright, but gently explains that now isn’t the right time to begin a relationship.
Raelith chuckled to herself, realizing she hadn’t been looking for a serious relationship anyway, and she’d always thought Peter was too sensitive for one. The lighthearted moment was quickly broken by an unexpected guest.
While Spider-Man was fighting Hellgate, he was suddenly interrupted by a mysterious figure named Nikodimu. Now, Nikodimu has appeared again, leaving Spider-Man unsure how to react. It seems like they’ve come to talk, but the preview ends before we find out what Nikodimu wants. You’ll have to read Amazing Spider-Man #17 next week to learn more!
