D4 Enterprise has brought the classic 1984 PC-8801 game Lizard to the Nintendo Switch! You can download it now on the Nintendo eShop for $6.49 in most regions, including the US.
We’ve previously discussed how D4 released a PC version of this game, originally made for the PC-6001mkII in Japan. While the PC-8801 came out in late 1981, it was more powerful than the PC-6001mkII, which was an upgraded version of the earlier, more affordable PC-6001 released in 1983.
Below you’ll find the official gameplay trailer, screenshots, and details about this version of Lizard. Although the game is currently only in Japanese, some of the menus and interface elements are in English.

Explore the famous Lizard Tower to find the Book of Truth! This classic RPG is considered one of the best Japanese-made games from the early days of PC gaming and is a must-play for anyone who enjoys the genre.
“The princess is cursed!” The entire kingdom erupted in turmoil.
A powerful and wicked creature called the Great Lizard abused the magic found within the “Book of Truth.” This ancient book, filled with the most powerful magical secrets and kept safe in a faraway tower, was meant only for those with pure intentions. Unfortunately, something terrible has happened.
The legendary “Book of Truth” has reappeared and needs to be given to someone who is truly good and honest.
The Great Lizard fills the ancient tower with frightening copies of monsters and dangerous magical traps, all to stop anyone brave and good-hearted from succeeding.
Will the hero, the young man destined for the princess, be able to face numerous obstacles, find the legendary Book of Truth, and finally end the terrible curse?
Released in Japan in 1984, this game lets you play as an adventurer on a quest to break a princess’s curse by finding the legendary “Book of Truth.” You’ll create your character as either a Warrior, Thief, or Merchant, and explore a 10-floor tower – a 3D dungeon filled with challenges. Battles happen randomly and are turn-based, focusing on hand-to-hand combat and using items. The tower also includes simple puzzles that add to the fun and rewarding gameplay.
This classic RPG, one of the first of its kind from Japan, offers a fun and straightforward 3D dungeon-crawling experience.
