Open-world RPG Wuthering Waves pulls a Breath of the Wild, adds a motorbike in 3.0 expansion

Wuthering Waves’ new 3.0 update introduces motorbikes, giving players another fast way to explore the game’s expanding world.

PlayStation recently showed off gameplay for version 3.0, revealing that players will use a new vehicle called the ‘Expedition Motorbike’ to explore a new area named Lahai-Roi. Some players thought the motorbike might only be available to the new character Lynae, who was shown riding it in the gameplay video, but it’s actually a feature all players will have access to on their account.

Okay, this bike immediately made me think of that awesome motorbike they added in the Champions’ Ballad DLC for Zelda: Breath of the Wild – seriously, the look is so similar! It’s another way to get around quickly in Wuthering Waves, alongside the glider and grappling hook. And get this – you can even switch to a first-person view while riding, which is perfect if you want to feel like you’re playing an old-school arcade racer. It’s a really cool touch!

This bicycle should fit well with the unexpected Cyberpunk Edgerunners partnership announced for Wuthering Waves, a game currently planned for release in 2026.

The latter part of the 3.0 presentation highlights 3D gameplay, and surprisingly includes 2D platforming too. The new character, Mornye, goes through a musical obstacle course similar to LittleBigPlanet, joined by adorable sprite companions.

Wuthering Waves first came out on PC and mobile in May 2024, and it’s become very popular in 2025 after being released on PS5 and Steam. Developed by Kuro Games, the game—which is similar to Genshin Impact—has received positive feedback, with a 90% approval rating on Steam and a 4.34-star rating on the PlayStation Store.

Unlike the quick move to version 2.0 after update 1.4 – which felt like an attempt to fix initial issues with a fresh start – the current storyline has been unfolding over a much longer period, with the game recently reaching update 2.8. Major updates, signified by ‘X.0’ versions, are usually the best time to start or return to games of this type. If the game continues to improve, update 3.0 will position Kuro Games well for 2026.
