As a big fan of Octopath Traveler, I’ve learned that while there are tons of collectibles, Letter Fragments are definitely one you’ll want to grab! If you find all of them scattered throughout the game, you unlock access to the Isle of Sages, and that lets you add another playable character – a whole new Traveler – to your party. It’s totally worth the effort!
Similar to the Crested Keys, you can find one of these fragments very early in the game. If you select it as a starting item for your character, you’ll have it right away.
Editor’s Note: If you do not pick the Letter Fragment as a Belonging when you create your character, I assume the fragment will become available later as you build back up the Town of Wishvale. You earn a reward for completing the Workshop, Hub, and Church, and I assume it would be one of those rewards. I cannot verify this directly, however, since I picked a Letter Fragment as a Belonging.
Octopath Traveler 0 has just five Letter Fragments to collect. If you’re still searching, you’re likely missing the final one, which you get by using the ‘Entreat’ Path Action on the ‘Cat of Graceful Bearing’ in Atlasdam. To unlock this, you’ll first need the ‘Animal Whisperer’ bonus from Wishvale’s Sacred Flame Dais. This requires finishing the ‘Kindlers of the Flame’ storyline and using an Azure Flamestone to unlock the bonus itself.
After collecting all five Letter Fragments, they will automatically join together to create a ‘Secret Invitation’. This key item will then let you access the Isle of Sages, located in the southern Outersea.
