Michael Sheen, known for his role in Good Omens, recently shared a heartfelt reaction online after a viewing of the show’s last episode. Good Omens stars Sheen and David Tennant as an angel and a demon, and is based on the popular fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The series first aired on Prime Video in 2019 and quickly gained both critical praise and a dedicated following.
Season two of Good Omens continued the adventures of Aziraphale and Crowley, this time focusing on helping the archangel Gabriel—who had lost his memory—figure out why he mysteriously appeared naked at Aziraphale’s bookshop. Throughout the season, their long-standing connection blossomed into a romantic relationship, culminating in a passionate kiss.
As a huge fan of Good Omens, I’m getting so excited for the final episode! Michael Sheen just shared a little tease about it. He said they had a screening recently, and he both laughed and cried while watching. He also mentioned that there will definitely be parts everyone loves, and, naturally, some things fans will disagree about – which honestly, is exactly what you’d expect from a show as brilliant as this one! He shared this on X in response to someone asking about the screening rumors.
Sheen explained that while the show could have benefited from six episodes, he’s grateful for what they got. He praised the direction, acting, and overall production quality, also mentioning the inclusion of ‘nightingales.’ You can see his full post below.
Even though Good Omens has a fantastic cast, received Emmy nominations, and performed well in ratings, the third season will be a single 90-minute special instead of the originally planned six episodes. This decision followed accusations of sexual assault against the show’s creator, Neil Gaiman, which surfaced in 2024. Gaiman has firmly denied these allegations.
Neil Gaiman and his company, The Blank Corporation, weren’t part of making the show’s last episode. While Gaiman shared some ideas for the script, the plan was for another writer to finish it, according to a Deadline report from October 2024.
Josh Cole, who is now in charge of BBC Studios Fiction, announced in August that season 3 of Good Omens was nearly finished and expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2026. David Tennant’s recent comments confirm what Cole said about how the final season came together.
Cole expressed pride in the team’s work on Season 3, acknowledging the challenging conditions they faced. He said the dedication of the ‘Good Omens’ fanbase motivated them, and the season finale was created with those fans in mind.
David Tennant recently mentioned on the ITV show The Assembly that he was happy they were able to finish the story. He felt it would have been unsatisfying to end it on a cliffhanger, and he’s glad they found a way to resolve things.
Details about the finale of Good Omens are being kept secret, but a recent post from Michael Sheen suggests the last episode will be a touching goodbye to the angel and demon pair fans have come to love.
Good Omens season 3 is expected to premiere on Prime Video in 2026.
