Stranger Things 5 fans spot major error in Episode 4

The first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 kicked off the final season, but viewers have spotted a mistake that doesn’t quite line up with something established back in Season 2.

The fifth season of Stranger Things promises a lot of exciting developments, including Will gaining superpowers, the return of a previously overlooked character, and a subtle clue that might finally explain Vecna’s origins.

Okay, so Episode 4 just wrapped up, and it’s laying the groundwork for Volumes 2 and 3 – things are about to get really interesting! Plus, I just found out how to snag tickets to see the finale in theaters, which I’m definitely doing!

As fans eagerly await the season’s finale, they’ve spotted something strange in the first part of Season 5…

How Stranger Things contradicts itself

In Season 2 of Stranger Things, during the episode titled ‘The Mind Flayer,’ Jonathan Byers reminisces about building a special fort with his brother, Will.

Man, I remember Jonathan telling me about building Castle Byers. He said they stayed up all night working on it, trying to make it exactly how I’d drawn it. Apparently, I wasn’t much help with the hammering – he joked I kept missing the nail! It even started raining, but they were determined to finish it, so they just kept going. They ended up being sick for a whole week afterwards, but they had to finish it, you know? It was important.

In Season 5, episode ‘Sorcerer,’ the show revisits Will’s memories, showing the construction of Castle Byers on a bright, sunny summer day. This caused some viewers to question the timeline, as it didn’t seem to match up with previous events.

One fan recalled Jonathan mentioning that building Castle Byers with Will involved getting completely drenched in the rain, leading to a week-long illness for both of them. Another fan pointed out inconsistencies in the show, noting that Will’s birthday was forgotten last season and had to be brought to the attention of the creators by fans.

People have been trying to figure out the error, with one viewer pointing out that the character mentioned rain starting to fall, suggesting it might not have been happening during the scene shown. Another viewer noticed the castle in the memory wasn’t finished, and since the characters supposedly built it all day, the rain likely happened after that moment.

The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, have talked about the error with Will’s birthday before, but they haven’t addressed this specific issue yet.
