The first man on Earth has finally escaped from Tarkov. But the dev has bitter news for him

After more than eight years of gameplay and several updates, a player has finally managed to successfully escape the city in the game Escape from Tarkov.

The release of Battlestate Games’ realistic shooter went pretty much as fans of the game anticipated. With just 44% positive reviews from over 35,000 Steam users, it’s not a particularly strong launch. While some of the feedback is unexpected, and despite the issues, many players are still having fun with the game, even just on Steam.

A player exploring the game Tarkov did something unique – something no one had ever done before, surprisingly.

Victory…

As you might expect, the primary objective in Escape from Tarkov is simply to escape. While you’ll complete numerous missions, tackle smaller tasks, and engage in plenty of combat, the main goal – escaping Tarkov – remains the biggest challenge, as many players, including streamer Tigz, have found out the hard way.

This YouTuber has been playing Escape from Tarkov for a long time, but even he struggled to complete the final mission in the new 1.0 update, set in The Terminal. The game is known for being difficult, but this ending proved to be a particularly tough challenge, even for an experienced streamer.

Nikita Buyanov, the CEO of Battlestate Games, commented on Tigz’s initial failed attempt to beat the Terminal almost seven hours before the developers officially congratulated the streamer for completing the game.

While the player was streaming, both their usual audience and people working on the game itself were watching. Congratulations poured in quickly, not just from Buyanov, but from many other fans of Escape from Tarkov as well.

… Pyrrhic?

Tigz might go back to playing Escape from Tarkov, and there are a few good reasons why. The leader of BG (presumably a group or team) shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Tigz got one of the worst possible endings in the game. This might explain why the game developers posted a cryptic message on the official Escape from Tarkov account: “You survived. But at what cost?”

Bujanow suggested a special reward for the first player to achieve the best ending in Escape from Tarkov. However, reaching that goal is proving difficult, not only because of enemies, but also due to lingering, unresolved bugs in the game.

Players are curious about what could be even more intense than the dramatic ending Tigz experienced – perhaps a similar climax where their character is directly involved. This isn’t about making the game easier, though. The developers are actually focused on adding more difficult challenges after a longtime player felt the current ones weren’t challenging enough.
