David Grivel, who previously directed the Splinter Cell Remake, left Ubisoft in late 2022 for a role at EA working on Battlefield 6. Now, he’s returned to Ubisoft to resume his position as director on the Splinter Cell Remake.
Grivel announced his return to the Splinter Cell Remake team on LinkedIn (via GamesRadar).
I’m thrilled to share that I’m returning to Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director for the Splinter Cell Remake! This project and the team behind it are especially meaningful to me, as Grivel announced today.
We haven’t heard much about the new Splinter Cell remake since a key developer left. Back in 2022, Ubisoft was looking for a writer to refresh the story for today’s players. They wanted someone who could stay true to the original game’s core ideas while also making the characters and world feel more realistic and engaging.
Since then, the world of Splinter Cell has expanded with both an audio series on BBC Radio and an animated series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch on Netflix. Netflix enjoyed the animated series enough to order a second season.
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow became available on Steam this October and was later offered as part of a bundle with other classic Splinter Cell games.
