Fitness influencer dies after eating 10,000 calories per day to do extreme weight loss challenge

Dmitry Nuyanzin, a Russian fitness coach, tragically died while attempting a dangerous eating challenge. He was consuming 10,000 calories daily to demonstrate his weight loss methods.

Nuyanzin, a 30-year-old from Orenburg, Russia, was a well-known fitness and nutrition coach on Instagram. He had built a following of over 43,000 people by sharing his diet and workout advice.

According to Russian media, Nuyanzin was a graduate of both the Orenburg Olympic Reserve School and St. Petersburg’s National Fitness University. He also reportedly worked as a personal trainer for high-profile Russians.

After working in the weight loss industry for eleven years, he decided to prove the effectiveness of his programs with a bold experiment: he would gain 50 pounds, then lose it quickly by following his own nutrition and fitness plans.

The influencer promised to give $100 to anyone who followed his program and lost 10% of their weight by New Year’s.

I just saw his latest video – it was posted on November 18th – and it’s pretty wild. He was eating Lay’s potato chips, and he actually gained a couple of kilograms! He went from 227 pounds to 231 pounds, which is, like, two kilograms. It’s all part of his thing, I guess.

According to local news reports, Nuyanzin started feeling sick around the end of the month and had to cancel his training appointments. He said he planned to visit a doctor, but unfortunately passed away in his sleep three days later due to a heart attack.

The influencer’s fans were devastated to learn of his unexpected passing. One fan shared on Instagram, “This feels like a nightmare. I can’t accept this news! What happened? My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends – I hope they find the strength to cope with this loss.”

Someone described him as a fantastic coach, a great mentor, and a genuinely kind person, adding that the news of his passing was deeply upsetting and expressing sympathy to his family.

Someone else commented on how quickly life can end. They noted how someone can be young, healthy, and full of life one moment, and then gone the next.

Nuyanzin isn’t alone in experiencing health issues related to his online content. Just last month, popular Korean food vlogger Tzuyang shared that years of eating massive amounts of food – up to 30,000 calories daily for her videos – had severely damaged her teeth.

In March 2025, Efecan Kultur, a popular 24-year-old Turkish TikToker known for his mukbang videos, sadly passed away due to health problems caused by obesity. He had 178,000 followers who watched him eat online.
