The Elden Ring Nightreign DLC, titled The Forsaken Hollows, will be released on December 4, 2025. This is the first major expansion for Nightreign, and was revealed last month at PlayStation State of Play Japan. However, there’s already a DLC with the same name – The Forsaken Hollows – that was released in May 2025. Here’s how to avoid purchasing the same content twice.
The Forsaken Hollows DLC explained
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, also known as Elden Ring Nightreign, became available on May 29th or 30th, depending on your location, and comes in several editions.
- Standard Edition – just the base game.
- Deluxe Edition – some extras plus a code for future DLC.
- Collector’s Edition – only in certain regions (probably sold out by now).
Originally, players who bought the standard version of the game could purchase the Deluxe Upgrade Pack to get extra content included in the Deluxe Edition. This pack was later renamed to Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows, causing a lot of confusion. Now, it appears over 1,000 people have left reviews on Steam for this content, even though it isn’t available yet.
It’s great we’re getting a sneak peek at this game before it’s released! I highly recommend checking out the base game, and this new addition looks promising too.

If you own the Nightreign Deluxe Edition or upgraded to the Deluxe Pack, you’ll automatically receive the DLC on December 4, 2025 – you don’t need to purchase it separately.
If you own the standard version of Elden Ring, you can now purchase the Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC. It currently includes everything that was previously available in the Deluxe Upgrade Pack, and the new expansion will be added shortly.
