BattleBit Remastered used to be incredibly popular, with some calling it a serious competitor to Battlefield. However, it’s lost much of its player base. This is largely due to the developers being absent for a long period. They’re now attempting a comeback with a large update, but early reactions from players have been negative.
Return of BattleBit Remastered
The team behind BattleBit Remastered shared a short preview of the Operation Overhaul update back in June. Before that, they hadn’t posted anything for 15 months, and even after the preview, fans waited another 3 months for further updates. It took a total of 18 months of silence before the developers finally released new information.
About a month ago, the developers announced tests for their major update, called Operation Overhaul. These tests took place last Saturday, November 29th, and lasted just a few hours. Players got a chance to try out a completely new map called Mesa, along with updated weapons, sounds, graphics, and improved movement – both on the ground and while airborne.
The response to the tests was much bigger than the developers anticipated. After being quiet for a while, they certainly weren’t expecting more than 6,000 people to join the game simultaneously.

Players were disappointed with the game. They experienced significant performance problems that got progressively worse because of a memory leak. Discussions on Steam reveal that many found the experience frustrating.
Despite the technical problems, many players are enjoying the new content. They especially like the visual improvements, updated interface, new controls, and the design of the Mesa map.
Hopefully, the developers will resolve the technical issues soon, allowing players to fully enjoy the new content in the next round of Operation Overhaul testing. We don’t have a firm date for when that testing will begin yet.
