Simpsons fans will remember the “BORT” license plate from the show’s Itchy & Scratchy Land episode. It’s become a popular collectible for dedicated viewers, with some actually seeking it out in real life.
Universal Studios sells popular merchandise with a license plate design. Interestingly, some dedicated fans have actually gotten real license plates with that same design for their cars. Unis says she’s disputed the fees, but hasn’t received a reply from several states, including New York.
She’s noticed people finding amusing ways to work around the rules, but admits it’s creating some minor problems for her.
Some TikTok users reported using the ‘BORT’ license plate to try and avoid paying tolls. One user apologized if anyone received a bill as a result, while another compared it to a previous case where someone used ‘NULL’ as a plate and received multiple tickets for an unreadable plate.
