Before the release of the movie Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (also known as FNAF 2), the marketing team revealed individual posters for seven of the main characters, emphasizing the film’s scary themes and story. When Five Nights at Freddy’s premiered in 2023, it was released in theaters and on Peacock streaming service at the same time. Even though it was available to stream right away, the movie was a big hit in theaters, earning almost $300 million with a production budget of only $20 million.
Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie are eagerly anticipating its release, and now ten character posters have been revealed on the official website just weeks before the premiere. The posters showcase seven of the animatronic characters, including Freddy, Foxy, Chica, Mangle, and Bonnie.
Interestingly, some characters got posters showing them in different appearances. For example, there’s a poster of Toy Freddy, and another showing Withered Freddy.

Bonnie appears on two new character posters, both showing him in his toy form. He was first seen in the original movie and will be back for the next one. One of the posters focuses on half of Bonnie’s face, with his hand slightly pulling back a curtain as if he’s peeking out.

The second poster featuring Bonnie focuses on a close-up of his face, emphasizing his frightening green eyes and teeth. While the movie is expected to include Bonnie in his older, damaged form, the posters released so far only show his newer, Toy version.
Chica, the animatronic character, has been featured on three posters. Two posters show Toy Chica, who Megan Fox will play in the new movie, and one poster features Withered Chica.

The initial Toy Chica poster featured a close-up of the character, highlighting her blue eyes. Similar to Bonnie, she’s shown peeking from behind a stage curtain in the image.

The second poster featuring Toy Chica is an even tighter close-up shot. Like the close-up of Bonnie, it only displays about half of her face.

The poster for Withered Chica has a much darker feel than the Toy Chica images, which were only mildly creepy. This new poster is genuinely frightening – her eyes are now bright pink and wide open, and you can see her endoskeleton, revealing four rows of teeth.
Freddy Fazbear, similar to Chica, had three character posters made. Two of these featured the Toy Freddy design, while the third highlighted Withered Freddy.

The three Freddy posters are arranged very similarly to the Chica posters. For example, one poster shows Toy Freddy drawing back a curtain, revealing most of his chest and shoulders.

There’s also a shot focusing on about half of his face, similar to the close-ups used for Bonnie and Chica.

The poster for Withered Freddy closely resembles a close-up of Toy Freddy, but it’s clear this animatronic is much older and damaged, as the name ‘Withered’ suggests. His eyes are wide open, and his metallic teeth are visible, hinting at a dangerous bite.
Mangle, a heavily damaged version of the character Foxy, will appear in the upcoming second Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. A new poster featuring Mangle has been released before the film comes out. Mangle is essentially a rebuilt Foxy, pieced back together after being torn apart by children.

The new poster for Mangle only shows a portion of his face, but the full, frightening reveal will happen when the movie comes out.

The team had some difficulties with Foxy’s animatronic during filming, but a poster featuring a damaged, or ‘Withered,’ version of Foxy was also created. Similar to the other ‘Withered’ character posters, it shows only half of Foxy’s face, emphasizing his large and intimidating eyes.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hits theaters on December 5, 2025.
Why are There Multiple Versions of Animatronics in FNAF 2?
The animatronics in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movies have a backstory rooted in the game series, especially Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Basically, there are two different types of animatronics: the ‘Withered’ versions and the ‘Toy’ versions.
When the first Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza closed, the original animatronic characters were left abandoned and fell into disrepair. Instead of being thrown away, the company decided to salvage them for parts when they attempted to reopen.
So, Fazbear Entertainment was really trying to revamp things for the grand reopening, and a big part of that was building a whole new generation of animatronics – the ‘Toy’ versions. That’s why they look so fresh and polished! But, surprisingly, they didn’t get rid of the old, battle-worn ones – the ‘Withered’ animatronics – they kept those around too. It’s an odd mix, honestly, having these brand new robots alongside the visibly damaged originals.
The new movie appears to pit the Toy animatronics against the Withered animatronics. It seems William Afton, played by Matthew Lillard, created the Toy animatronics and will use them to fight the Withered animatronics, who betrayed him in the previous film.
