Michael Bay’s Thriller Drop Is Quietly Dominating on Prime Video

Seven months after being released in theaters, ‘s new movie, Drop, is now a surprise success on streaming, currently topping the charts on Prime Video.

According to FlixPatrol, the movie Drop is currently doing well on Prime Video in the US. As of November 29th, it’s ranked at number 7 on the Top 10 Movies chart and has stayed there for three days. It originally entered the chart at number 8 on November 26th. Directed by Christopher Landon and produced by Bay, the film follows a mother who receives frightening messages while on a first date, making her question her date and her own safety.

Meghann Fahy, known for her Emmy nomination and role in The Perfect Couple, plays Violet. Her evening takes a terrifying turn when she meets her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar from It Ends with Us), at a fancy restaurant. What initially seems like a promising night quickly becomes a nightmare as Violet receives threatening messages on her phone, warning her that her son and Henry’s sister will be harmed if she doesn’t comply with unknown demands.

I finally got around to seeing Drop, which came out in the US back in April through Universal Pictures. It’s been getting a lot of love, honestly – critics and regular moviegoers seemed to really enjoy it, even if it wasn’t a huge blockbuster. It’s officially ‘Certified Fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes with an 83% rating from critics, and audiences agree, giving it a solid 79% based on over 1,000 reviews. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already!

Critics generally agree that Drop is a smart thriller that effectively uses modern technology to keep viewers engaged, and they particularly highlighted the strong performance by Fahy. While audiences had slightly more varied opinions, most still found it to be an enjoyable and satisfying watch, even if they described it as a somewhat predictable but fun action movie that delivers entertainment until the very end.

Despite being released with several other thrillers, like Rami Malek’s The Amateur, the film Drop did better than expected at the box office. It earned $28.5 million worldwide on an $11 million budget.

Bay Recently Debuted His First Ever Documentary Film

Although Michael Bay was a producer on Drop, he was also directing his own projects in 2025. His documentary, We Are Storror, recently premiered at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in March and has been praised by viewers. This marks Bay’s first time directing a documentary film.

I’m a huge fan of Storror, and I was so excited to hear about their documentary! It’s all about the team – those incredible British parkour and freerunning athletes. I haven’t been able to see it yet, as it hasn’t had a big release, but everyone who saw it at SXSW absolutely loved it. It’s currently sitting at a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is amazing! I can’t wait until it’s available for everyone to watch.

Michael Bay’s Drop is now streaming on Prime Video.
