Be warned, this contains spoilers for the first part of Stranger Things season 5! The latest episodes of Stranger Things have just been released, and episode four, “Sorcerer,” has left viewers stunned. Many fans are calling it one of the best episodes of the show yet.
In the fourth episode of Volume 1, several important things happened. Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) began to develop abilities mirroring those of the villain, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). The episode also showed that Kali, a character introduced in season 2 (played by Linnea Berthelsen), had been captured by the military and was finally able to reconnect with her sister, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).
Social media is buzzing with reactions to the latest episode, especially on X, and most fans agree it’s one of the best the series has ever done.
Viewers and critics alike are calling this recent Stranger Things episode the best one yet. It received a 9.8/10 rating on IMDb, making it the highest-rated episode of the series to date.
I’m so hyped for Season 5! It’s already got a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is amazing. The Duffer Brothers have said they’re really careful not to mess up the ending, especially after seeing how disappointed people were with the finale of Game of Thrones. They definitely seem to be learning from those mistakes, and that makes me feel a lot better about how things will wrap up!

The Duffer Brothers, in a recent interview with Deadline, revealed that the second volume of the show will explore the mysteries of the Upside Down and explain why Will was originally taken back in Season 1, as well as the recent abduction of Holly Wheeler (played by Nell Fisher). Noah Schnapp also drew a comparison between his character Will’s link to Vecna and the connection between Harry Potter and Voldemort in the popular book series.
As a fan, I learned that the creators originally envisioned this character’s abilities functioning similarly to Eleven’s, but as the scripts for Volume 2 developed, it became clear they were different. A big focus during filming was making sure those differences were visible – that the way the powers manifested physically felt distinct from what we’re used to seeing with Eleven.
As a movie buff, watching the latest season really reminded me of Harry Potter! We started seeing how Will and Vecna were connected, and it struck me as incredibly similar to the relationship between Harry and Voldemort – I actually had to rewatch the Harry Potter films to fully grasp it. It’s just fascinating to explore those parallels and what they signify.
Even though episode 4 has received a lot of positive attention, the first four episodes of this season have received mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the lowest-rated seasons so far. Hopefully, the rest of the season and the finale will be better received.
Okay, so I’m super excited – the first part of the final Stranger Things season is finally here on Netflix! They’re splitting it into two parts, and the second half drops on December 25th. Get ready, because the very last episode will be available on December 31st – it’s going to be a bittersweet New Year’s Eve!
