It took three Dispatch playthroughs before I finally saw this hidden hacking minigame. Totally worth it

I’ve been completely hooked on Dispatch this year – it’s easily one of my favorites! It’s great because I’m also working on a guide for it, so I’ve really gotten to know the game. I’ve seen all the endings multiple times, and I’ve actually finished the whole thing from start to finish three times now. But my last playthrough was special. I decided to take my time during that final dispatch shift in Episode 8, and I was so surprised to stumble upon a completely new hacking minigame – I’d never seen it before in all my runs!

How to play a mysterious hacking minigame

The final Dispatch mission is quite lengthy and broken into sections (luckily, the game saves your progress between them). You complete it by defeating a boss. Once you succeed a few times, the mission ends and you unlock the rest of the story and its different endings. But… what if you deliberately take a long time to beat that last boss?

I usually finish dealing with the boss quickly, but this time I took my time. It turned out to be a great decision! I discovered a hidden hacking minigame I hadn’t seen before. I suspect this difficult challenge is why so few players have earned the ‘Hacked by Robert’ achievement.

I’m referring to a minigame called Defeat Mindf*cker. You unlock it near the end of Episode 8’s dispatch missions, and it’s really different from anything else in the game. It messes with your expectations and how you normally play – you’ll find paths you thought were blocked are actually open, and even your controls can be flipped! It’s not a hard challenge, but it’s a welcome break from the standard hacking minigames, and I was happily surprised by it. However, since many players will have already finished the dispatch missions by that point, I suspect a lot of people haven’t even discovered it.
