The Marvel Universe’s next big threat already involves multiple incredibly powerful enemies.
Marvel has revealed details about the upcoming “Sorcerer Supreme” comic series, giving fans a look at what’s next for Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. Wanda is taking on the role of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, and the new series, written by Steve Orlando and illustrated by Bernard Chang, will focus on the challenges that come with the title. Specifically, issues will feature conflicts with Madelyne Pryor, the Queen of Limbo, and Agatha Harkness, a new Sorcerer Supreme chosen by the Vishanti, both of whom will be major players in issue #3.

In Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme #3, Wanda Maximoff—known as a mother, an Avenger, and the Scarlet Witch—has declared herself the Sorcerer Supreme after the defeat of Doctor Doom. However, the Vishanti disagree with her claim and have chosen Agatha Harkness as their Sorcerer Supreme. Following a battle with Agatha, Wanda finds herself in Limbo, a strange and deceptive realm. To escape, she’ll have to overcome its ruler: Maddie Pryor!
This story follows up on the recent Marvel Comics event, One World Under Doom, where Doctor Doom took control of the world and declared himself its leader. While his victory seemed quick, it was the result of a long process that took months, even years, to develop. A key step in Doom’s rise to power was taking the title of Sorcerer Supreme from Doctor Strange, which happened during the vampire invasion storyline in 2024’s Blood Hunt.
Now that the Scarlet Witch is taking over as Sorcerer Supreme, the question is who will fill the power vacuum left by Doctor Doom. Doom actually prepared for his death in One World Under Doom #9, leaving instructions on how to handle his legacy. These instructions will likely be explored in a new series by writers Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Benjamin Percy, with art by Carlos Magno, Robert Gill, Justin Mason, and Georges Jeanty, coming in January.
