Mario Tennis Fever Preorders Are Live – First Mario Sports Game For Switch 2

You can now preorder Mario Tennis Fever for $70 at many popular stores. The game launches on February 12, 2026, and is a brand new title for the Nintendo Switch 2 – in fact, it’s exclusive to the new system. Like most Nintendo Switch 2 games, it’s priced at $70.

Nintendo recently announced *Mario Tennis Fever* during their Nintendo Direct presentation celebrating Super Mario’s 40th anniversary. They also revealed that *Super Mario Galaxy* and *Super Mario Galaxy 2* are coming to both the new Switch 2 and the original Switch on October 2nd.

While Nintendo has added older games like *Super Mario Strikers* to its Switch Online service, *Mario Tennis Fever* is the first completely new Mario sports game created specifically for the Switch 2.

Mario Tennis Fever lets up to four players compete locally or online. You can play using traditional buttons and sticks, or with motion controls using the Joy-Con controllers. The game features a roster of 38 playable characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. A key new feature is ‘Fever Rackets’ – there are 30 different rackets to collect, each with a unique power-up, like freezing the court or making your opponent’s racket smaller.

So, I just jumped into the new Adventure Mode, and it’s wild! There’s this mysterious island, and some monsters turned Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, and Waluigi into *babies*! It’s pretty funny, honestly. Donkey Kong somehow avoided the baby-fication, which is a bummer for him, I guess. Anyway, Baby Mario and the crew have to relearn how to play tennis to get off the island. It’s a fun challenge getting used to playing with everyone so small!

Beyond the main game, players can enjoy modes like Trial Towers, Tournaments, Ranked Matches, Online Rooms, and Mix It Up. Inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Tournament Mode will feature talking flowers providing commentary, and Mix It Up will include special Wonder Effects to change up gameplay.

Mario Sports Games for Nintendo Switch

The most recent Mario Tennis game, Mario Tennis Aces, came out in 2018 and was the first Mario sports game available on the original Switch. Because the new Nintendo Switch 2 will work with older games, you’ll be able to enjoy all three Mario sports titles – Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and Mario Strikers: Battle League – on the upgraded console.

  • Mario Tennis Aces — $51.87 ($60)
  • Mario Golf: Super Rush — $46.49 ($60)
  • Mario Strikers: Battle League — $52.69 ($60)
