Twice the size of The Last of Us 2. Naughty Dog’s new game is expected to shock with its scale and offer more RPG elements

There’s still a lot we don’t know about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. We’ve only gotten a brief glimpse of the new Naughty Dog game in one trailer, which hasn’t really given us a good feel for what it’s like. Sadly, it seems the game won’t be featured at this year’s The Game Awards, but one source has revealed some new details.

Naughty Dog’s biggest game

Detective Seeds shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he reached out to the developers at Naughty Dog via LinkedIn to discuss a few things. He already knew some details, like the fact that their upcoming game, Intergalactic, will have a stronger focus on RPG elements than their previous titles. The game will feature choices that impact the story and world, creating a more immersive experience.

The developers have also focused on the game’s scope. Reports indicate that Intergalactic is twice the size of The Last of Us: Part 2. Completing the main story of Naughty Dog’s previous game takes around 24 hours—the longest playtime of any of their titles to date. It appears Intergalactic will be their most expansive game yet (a list of all Naughty Dog’s main and some side games is included below).

The game’s release date has been updated: it’s now expected in 2027, not 2026. While originally aiming for 2027, the developers at Detective Seeds have indicated this is a tentative date and the release could be delayed further.

Our source also said the game is already being translated into many different languages, which aligns with job postings on Naughty Dog’s website. They expect the translation process to take about as long as it did for The Last of Us Part II.
