Nintendo Switch 2 Firmware Update Includes Fix For One Of Generation’s Best Games

A recent software update for the Nintendo Switch 2 includes the typical stability enhancements, and also fixes a few minor issues that users had noticed.

Nintendo has released update 21.0.1 to address issues that could happen when transferring data from one Nintendo Switch to another locally. The update specifically fixes two error codes that could appear during this process. A common problem this update resolves is the inability to connect wireless controllers or Bluetooth headphones after waking up the receiving Switch or turning off Airplane mode.

Although not many people reported it, some Reddit users said they were having trouble with Bluetooth headsets, and were happy to see a fix released. Switch 2 owners also noted that the popular game Nier: Automata, originally made for the older Switch model, now works correctly on the new console after receiving the 21.0.1 update, resolving a compatibility issue.

Updates to the Switch often include fixes for older games. For example, the recent 21.0.0 update fixed issues with games like Batman: Arkham Knight, Hitman 3, and Windjammers. However, some older games still don’t work correctly on the newer system, with Borderlands 3 being the most common example.

Okay, so the latest patch didn’t fix the issues I was having with my third-party dock. It started happening after the 21.0.0 update, which was super annoying. Luckily, it looks like the companies that make the docks are already pushing out their own updates to try and solve it, so hopefully that’ll work!

Nintendo Switch owners have a lot to look forward to this holiday season! Several new games came out earlier this month, including Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders. And to finish off the year, the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released soon.
