Marvel’s Cinematic Universe will have five Disney+ shows returning for a second season. This marks a change in approach for Marvel Studios, which originally didn’t plan for guaranteed multiple seasons of its streaming series. As the MCU moves towards the end of the Multiverse Saga and looks to the future, we can expect more shows to continue with new episodes.
According to reports from Scooper Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is planning a second season of Marvel Zombies on Disney+. The show’s strong viewership numbers during its first five days reportedly impressed Disney, and a source at Marvel Animation indicated back in September that they were already thinking about future stories within the Marvel Zombies world.

Loki

Released in June 2021, Loki was Marvel Studios’ third series on Disney+. The show follows Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief, and begins after the events of Avengers: Endgame. This version of Loki steals the Tesseract and finds himself on the run, eventually traveling through time with the Time Variance Authority. The cast also includes Owen Wilson as Mobius, Sophia di Martino as Sylvie, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.
After a successful first season, Loki was quickly renewed for a second. This season followed Loki as he tried to fix the damage done when Sylvie killed He Who Remains, which fractured the timeline. Ultimately, Loki worked to connect and protect all the different timelines, becoming a key figure – the God of Stories – within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil: Born Again

After a significant creative reset during filming, Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ in March 2025. The series revisits the story first presented in the Netflix Defenders Saga, starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin. The show focuses on Fisk’s new life as the mayor of New York City and Matt Murdock’s comeback as a masked hero.
The first season of Born Again was originally planned for 18 episodes, but creative changes reduced it to nine. However, a second season of nine episodes was also confirmed. Although the specific story for Season 2 hasn’t been revealed, it’s expected to be inspired by the Shadowland comic book arc and will continue to explore both Wilson Fisk’s control over New York City and Matt Murdock’s journey as he rebuilds his life as Daredevil.
What If…?

Marvel started creating animated content for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first season of What If…? in August 2021. The show brought back many actors from the live-action movies to provide voices for their characters in animated form. Featuring characters like Captain Peggy Carter (voiced by Hayley Atwell) and The Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright), What If…? retells familiar Marvel stories with a single twist, dramatically altering the outcome for everyone involved.
The Disney+ show What If…? made history by being renewed for three seasons. Season 2 launched in December 2023, and Season 3 concluded the story in December 2024. Over 26 episodes filled with action and drama, the series introduced characters like Kahhori and explored alternate versions of familiar heroes – including Strange Supreme and T’Challa as Star-Lord – to reimagine and expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Following many rumors about problems during production, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man finally premiered on Disney+ in January 2025. The series, starring Hudson Thames, Grace Song, Colman Domingo, and Nico Robinson, offered a fresh look at Spider-Man’s beginnings, set in a different version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this version, Spider-Man gains his powers and is mentored by Norman Osborn.
The second season, launching in 2026, will challenge Peter Parker with even tougher enemies, particularly Doctor Otto Octavius. It will also delve into his family background, picking up after the first season’s cliffhanger revealing his father in prison speaking with Aunt May.
Marvel Zombies

Okay, so Marvel Zombies actually started as one episode of What If…? – specifically, the one where a zombie virus breaks out, and it all stems from the Quantum Realm. This new series takes that premise and runs with it. We’re talking Ms. Marvel, Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, and Ironheart battling a full-blown zombie apocalypse, but it quickly becomes clear there’s something much bigger going on than just the undead. If you’re looking for a zombie fix with a Marvel twist, you can find the whole series streaming now on Disney+.
Bonus: X-Men ’97

Although X-Men ’97 isn’t officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show has been picked up for a second season, set to release in 2026. It brought back many of the original voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series and featured the mutant team dealing with major events like the destruction of Genosha and a global threat from Magneto.
The second season starts with the team scattered across three separate time periods, all leading to a final showdown with the incredibly powerful Apocalypse. We’ll also meet new mutants who will join the fight against dangerous enemies like Omega Red, Sabretooth, and Lady Deathstrike.
