I was so excited to watch the Aquaplus livestream today! They finally announced where we’ll be able to play the new Utawarerumono game, Utawarerumono: Shiro he no Michishirube! It’s coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam – I can’t wait!
The recent livestream revealed that the new game will be a classic RPG, continuing the story of Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten. The original game’s four main characters – Oshtor, Shunya, Mikazuchi, and Munechika – will be back, voiced by the same actors, but with updated designs reflecting their growth. Developers also shared early screenshots showcasing gameplay, including exploration, dialogue, and combat.

Aquaplus also shared the game’s key art, which will be used on the game box. They hinted that the character Shunya’s pose in the art is similar to a pose used for the character Kuon in their previous game, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception.

The latest Utawarerumono game was first shown last year, originally planned for release in Fall 2025. However, Aquaplus announced a delay in September, pushing the release to 2026. This recent announcement still doesn’t give us a specific release date, only confirming it will be sometime in 2026.
Monochrome Mobius, currently out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, is also heading to the new Switch 2 console. Plus, Aquaplus is having a sale on several of their games, including Monochrome Mobius and the original Utawarerumono strategy RPG trilogy. You can find discounts on the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop now through December 1st, and on Steam from November 25th to December 2nd.
