Apple TV+’s new sci-fi drama, Pluribus, is making waves and has already set a new streaming record. Created by Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad, and starring Rhea Seehorn of Better Call Saul, the nine-episode series centers on Carol Sturka. Carol is a successful romance novelist who feels unfulfilled, and the first episode reveals she’s one of the few people who remain unaffected by a terrifying, post-apocalyptic event.
The new Apple TV+ show, Pluribus, is quickly becoming a hit. It recently surpassed Severance on Rotten Tomatoes, achieving a remarkable 99% approval rating, compared to the 97% earned by the Adam Scott-led mystery thriller.
Apple TV+’s new series, Pluribus, is already a huge hit! According to Deadline, it’s become the platform’s most-watched drama ever, surpassing the previous record held by season one of Severance. Pluribus had the biggest global launch of any Apple TV+ drama, reaching the top spot in over 100 countries, including the U.S., UK, Canada, and many others.
Nielsen, the company that measures TV viewership in the U.S., confirmed these numbers by tracking how many minutes people watched the first two episodes. While the official Nielsen Streaming ratings will be released in a few weeks, other tracking services have already shown the show is performing well. For example, Luminate reports that the first two episodes totaled 6.4 million hours of viewing time.

Apple TV secured the rights to Pluribus three years ago after winning a bidding war, immediately commissioning two seasons. The show has been kept largely under wraps ever since, with only hints that it would feature science fiction themes. Details about the cast, beyond the lead actress Seehorn, have remained scarce.
Pluribus has quickly become a standout success in 2025, and its positive reception likely stems from a few factors. These include the creators’ reputation for quality work – built on previous projects and their connection to Breaking Bad – and the air of mystery surrounding its release.
