Jenna Ortega has a strong idea for how the characters should develop in season 3 of Wednesday, and it’s a good one. The second season concluded on September 3, 2025, with the release of its final episodes, following part 1’s debut on Netflix a month earlier. While season 3 has already been confirmed, a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
The series Wednesday reimagines the iconic characters originally created by Charles Addams, who have been a staple of popular culture for decades. Jenna Ortega truly makes the role of Wednesday Addams her own, and it’s clear she’s an actress worth paying attention to – when she has a thought, people listen.

Jenna Ortega hopes to see a stronger bond between Wednesday and her mother, Morticia (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones), in future episodes. While their relationship starts off strained, it’s already beginning to improve, and Ortega would like to see them working together instead of constantly arguing.
Morticia had a small role in the first season, only appearing in a couple of episodes. However, she became a regular character in season 2, appearing in every episode. While their relationship showed some development by the end of season 2, Jenna Ortega hopes to see Morticia and Wednesday become closer friends in the future.
Ortega mentioned they had been discussing the power of women supporting each other, and this theme is visible in the show’s final episodes. She believes highlighting this dynamic is important, as it’s inspiring and a positive representation of women.
Why A Team-Up With Wednesday & Morticia Would Be Great For Season 3

Jenna Ortega raises a great point: it would be interesting to see Wednesday and Morticia’s relationship develop further. Not only would that give us more screen time with the fantastic actresses Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones, but it’s important to remember that the show, while titled Wednesday, is ultimately based on the entire Addams Family dynamic.
Family relationships are a key part of the show, and it started moving in that direction after its first season. While season 1 centered on Wednesday’s romantic life, season 2 broadened the story to explore the Addams family’s past, particularly the history of Morticia’s mother.
The second season of Wednesday revealed that Morticia has a sister, Ophelia, who has been kept locked away. This sets up a great chance to explore complicated mother-daughter dynamics. While Morticia had a challenging relationship with her own mother, the third season could show her learning from those experiences and avoiding the same pitfalls with Wednesday.
