In the game Where Winds Meet, the side quest “Cries In The Distance” begins when players hear someone calling for help while exploring a mountain and investigating a damaged bell. The cries lead to a trapped individual and a meeting with a character players will recognize. To help, players must solve a puzzle based on the principles of Tai Chi.

Go to the Peace Bell Tower, which is southwest of Heaven’s Pier. Climb to the top and jump down the mountainside to find a hidden entrance – a hatch leading to an underground cave. Inside, you’ll find someone who needs help.

Once you discover the voice belongs to Feng Jisheng, challenge him to an archery contest at the start of WWM, then head to the tree roots and use a fire arrow to destroy them.

Open the chest and stand on the pressure plate to open the wall where Feng is locked.

Listen to his explanation of Tai Chi and how the machines function. Then, with Fend standing on one of the plates, step onto the other to activate the Yin-Yang Dial and start solving the Tai Chi puzzles in Where Winds Meet.

How To Unravel The Tai Chi Mysteries In WWM – Where Winds Meet

In the game WWM, players must solve a puzzle involving several rotating devices to unlock the secrets of Tai Chi. To do this, you need to turn the Earth and Heaven devices to face away from each other, and simultaneously position the Water and Fire devices so they are facing each other. All of these devices can be turned in either direction – clockwise or counter-clockwise – and the Yin-Yang Dial can also be rotated. Keep in mind that while the Earth and Heaven devices spin independently, the Water and Fire devices always move together.

Start by going back to the device near the green leaves and tree roots – the one you shot the fire arrow at. Turn it once to the left, so it faces the wall.

The device across from you is already positioned against the wall, so there’s no need to turn it. These two devices are known as the ‘heaven’ and ‘earth’ mechanisms.

Next, turn the Yin-Yang dial one full rotation to halt the movement of the fire and water mechanisms.

Now, turn the device on the left candle shelf counter-clockwise once, then move to the device on the right and turn it clockwise twice. These are the fire and water puzzles. Finally, turn the Yin-Yang Dial one last time to solve the Tai Chi mystery and open the path downwards.

How To Complete Cries In The Distance Quest In WWM – Where Winds Meet

Use Mighty Drop to land safely, then explore the area and gather clues. After you’ve collected everything, talk to Feng to continue.

Ahead, you’ll find what appears to be a training area, guarded by a rare, tough Albino Black Bear. To win, young adventurers must battle it while Feng cleverly pretends to be lifeless.

This bear is immune to regular attacks. You can only defeat it by using the Tai Chi mystic skill.

Once you pick it up, throw it against the rocks on the right, left, and front to defeat it.

After you open the chests and get your rewards, talk to Feng again to finish the “Cries in the Distance” quest in Where Winds Meet.
