Sexy spoilers for The Hunting Wives season one follow.
The mind games between wealthy women, often involving psychosexual and violent elements, seem to never conclude. Just one day following the announcement of Big Little Lies season three updates, Netflix announced a second season for The Hunting Wives. If you happened to see a group hug between lesbians, gay men, and straight women who enjoy chaos today, that’s probably the reason behind it. Vulture critic Roxana Hadadi described the first season as “ridiculous yet appealing,” which might explain why it was so successful on Netflix, with over 20 million views in the U.S. within five weeks, according to the streaming service.
Below, the returning cast members and what we know about the next season of The Hunting Wives.
What is The Hunting Wives about?
The TV drama is loosely based on a book by May Cobb. It revolves around Sophie O’Neil (played by Brittany Snow), who relocates to Maple Brook, Texas following a tragic vehicular accident. Here, she develops an intense fascination with Margo (portrayed by Malin Akerman) and her circle of friends, often referred to as the “Hunting Wives.” As their relationship deepens, they become entangled in an affair.
However, this drama offers more than just a love story. The mystery of a slain teenager adds another layer to the plot. By the end of the season, several characters meet untimely ends, Sophie and Margo’s husbands grow hostile towards them, and they find themselves at the heart of the chaos – a position that proves both beneficial and detrimental.
Who is returning for season two?
As a devoted film fan, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Rebecca Cutter will return for another season of our captivating series! I can hardly contain my excitement about diving back into these unforgettable characters and promising an even more tantalizing, twisted, and mind-bending journey through Maple Brook. As she shared in a statement, “I can’t wait to take the audience along on another rollercoaster ride!”
Joining Rebecca will be the returning stars Brittany Snow and Akerman, who sent fans into a frenzy with their season-two teaser video. In a sneak peek from the upcoming episodes, Margo delivers a chilling line to Sophie: “You know I know what you sound like when you’re breathing on the phone.” This hints at more electrifying moments and plot twists in store!
In the upcoming season, Margo’s former lover Callie, portrayed by Jaime Ray Newman, will appear alongside two other leads. One of them is Dermot Mulroney, reprising his role as Margo’s husband, Jed, who aims to become the governor of Texas. Also returning are Graham, Sophie’s husband played by Evan Jonigkeit, and a local teenage boy named Brad, portrayed by George Ferrier. The question remains: which of these six characters will survive until the end of season two?
When is the release date?
It’s been three years since Netflix released the second season of Wednesday, so we might not expect it to appear immediately.
