5 New Movies You Can Finally Watch at Home This Month

Things are pretty slow in the world of renting movies online right now. That’s mainly because there weren’t many exciting new films in theaters during January and February. We’ve pretty much seen all the major movies from 2025 that are available to rent, and it’s taken a while for films from 2026 to become available at home. We expect more new releases in May, but there are still a few to look forward to before April ends.

This movie was largely panned by critics and didn’t attract many viewers initially – but that often means it’s a future cult favorite! It has the potential to become a rediscovered masterpiece, and you could be among the first to appreciate it. Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the film stars Oscar winners Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale in a fresh, feminist take on the 1935 classic Bride of Frankenstein, which was inspired by Mary Shelley’s original story. With so many monster movies being released, don’t let this bold and ambitious film slip under the radar. It’s currently available to rent or buy on demand.

Colleen Hoover, author of popular books like It Ends With Us, is aiming for the same romantic success as Nicholas Sparks. Her latest book has been adapted into a film starring Maika Monroe as a woman recently released from prison after serving six years for accidentally killing her boyfriend. She unexpectedly falls for his best friend, played by Tyriq Withers. While reviews have been somewhat mixed – which is common for romantic dramas – the film is now available to rent or buy on demand.

Undertone

This year’s horror offerings include a chilling Canadian film about Evy (Nina Kiri), who co-hosts a podcast with her friend Justin (who we only hear as a voice). When they receive a recording seemingly from a couple experiencing a haunting, the sounds of the supernatural begin to invade Evy’s life. The film is brilliantly crafted with terrifying sound design – definitely listen with the volume up! It’s currently available to rent or buy online.

The Plague

Charlie Polinger, 98 minutes

This highly praised first film explores the complex world of youth and bullying. It premiered at Cannes last May and had a successful release in late 2025. Writer and director Polinger expertly directs young actors, particularly Everett Blunck, who plays the new student at Tom Lerner Water Polo Camp, and Kayo Martin, who delivers a chilling performance as the camp bully. The film’s title comes from a cruel game the boys play, where they pretend one of them has a shameful illness. It’s a powerful and brave drama. | Available on VOD.

Hoppers

Daniel Chong, 104 minutes

Pixar’s newest film is a heartwarming story about a battle to save a natural habitat. Developers plan to destroy a peaceful area once home to beavers and other animals to build a highway. A determined girl named Mabel steps in, using special technology to enter the body of a fake beaver and rally the animals to fight for their homes. Director Daniel Chong delivers a classic Pixar experience – it’s not groundbreaking for the studio, but the clever design choice of animating the animals’ faces to convey their emotions is particularly effective. It’s sure to be a hit with children, and likely to tug at your heartstrings. —Eric Vilas-Boas | Available on VOD.
