So, here we are, right? ZachXBT, this guy who fancies himself the Sherlock Holmes of crypto or whatever, has uncovered this whole coordinated network of over ten accounts-like, ten!-that are just cranking out panic about wars and politics. Why? To drive traffic to their little crypto scams! Can you believe this? It’s like a bad episode of a sitcom.
And let’s not forget about the ongoing war in the Middle East, which is the hottest topic on social media right now-hotter than my Aunt Sylvia’s lasagna at a family gathering. And instead of using that attention for something productive, these bozos decide to scam people out of their hard-earned cash. Nice move, geniuses.
The Strategy
So, here’s how it goes down. First, they buy up accounts with followers-because why not? Then they start what Zach calls “doomposting.” You know, tweeting endlessly about every negative thing happening in the world. It’s like they’re trying to win an award for Most Depressing Content Ever. These posts get people all riled up, and then they repost it from their other fake accounts, promoting some ridiculous giveaway or scam. Oh, and they change their usernames faster than I change my socks.

Strategy:
>Purchase accounts with followers
>Doompost multiple times per day
>Repost content from alt accounts

Engagement Baiting Large Accounts
Now, here’s where it gets even better. The reason these schemes work is that people can’t resist engaging with negative content. It’s like they see it and go, “Oh boy, I need to jump in on this misery!” Zach notes that loads of big accounts are getting sucked into the comments, boosting these posts without even realizing it. Talk about a classic case of stepping into the trap!
And guess what? Ten of these accounts were pushing pump-and-dump crypto scams, raking in six figures. Six figures! That’s more than I make in a decade. What a racket!
But here’s the kicker-Zach concludes it’s downright terrifying if an actual nation-state got involved instead of just some meme coin scammer. I mean, really, it makes you think. Maybe we should ban these folks and make sure they face some legal consequences. I don’t know, just a thought. I mean, the propaganda is messing with people’s heads, and daily, we’ve got users falling for fake news like they’re tripping over their own feet.
