During the recent XB2 podcast on YouTube, Jez Corden from Windows Central reported that Xbox is having major internal conversations about making some games exclusive to their platform. While it’s uncertain if this will lead to more exclusive titles, it hints that Xbox might not completely avoid them in the future.
Xbox Exclusives Are Reportedly Coming Back
Jez Corden has been sharing some noteworthy information about Xbox lately. Even if Xbox doesn’t significantly change its plans, his recent statements hint that some games will still be exclusive to the platform. During a recent stream, Corden explained that whether or not a game gets ported to other systems depends on if the development team has the necessary tools and time. He specifically suggested that Gears of War: E-Day is likely to remain exclusive to Xbox.
Recent reports suggest Xbox is considering new Game Pass options. One possibility, according to Corden, is a cheaper plan that includes most of the benefits of the current top-tier Game Pass Ultimate, but without access to the newest, most popular games like Call of Duty.
Not Everyone Can Agree On Xbox Exclusives
Following a recent tweet from CharlieIntel about potential future exclusive games, fans have shared a lot of different opinions. Michael Jesus Santos believes exclusives are necessary to maintain fairness, even though he’d personally like to play the games on PlayStation. However, another fan, He Who Remains, feels Xbox has already committed too much to this strategy and can’t change course now.
It’s still unclear what Xbox has planned for the future, as much of the information currently available is just speculation. Ideally, Xbox will be able to move forward in a way that keeps its existing fans happy without completely changing course, but finding that sweet spot might be challenging.
