Apple TV+’s new series,
The first season of Widow’s Bay sets up its spooky and funny story incredibly well, ending with a surprising twist in the finale on June 17, 2026. Many are calling it the best show of the year, and it boasts fantastic scores: 97% from critics and 93% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. These numbers suggest Widow’s Bay is destined for success, and a second season of this comedy-horror is already confirmed.
Widow’s Bay Season 2 Is Confirmed
As a huge fan of mysteries, I was thrilled to hear Apple TV has renewed Widow’s Bay for a second season – and they announced it before the first season even finished! Matt Cherniss, who heads up programming at Apple, said they’re really happy with how the show’s been received, loving all the spooky mysteries, surprising humor, and those intriguing secrets. He also mentioned Apple is eager to bring the series back for another round, which is fantastic news for anyone who’s been hooked like me!
Apple TV and creator Alan Dippold have signed a long-term agreement, signaling plans for multiple seasons of the show Widow’s Bay. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, considering the complex production involved with its horror and fantasy themes, fans can probably expect to see season two around summer 2028.
Widow’s Bay Season 2 Cast Details
We don’t yet know who will be in season 2 of Widow’s Bay, but the ending of season 1 sets up some likely returns. It was revealed that Evan Loftis (played by Kingston Rumi Southwick) is a descendant of the island’s founder, making him central to breaking an old, dangerous agreement. This means both he and Tom Loftis’ actor, Rhys, will probably be back. However, since Widow’s Bay focuses on its characters and humor, we can expect to see many familiar faces return as well.
Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn, who play Wyck and Patricia in Widow’s Bay, have received a lot of positive attention for their acting, and their characters have quickly become popular with viewers. The show’s other supporting actors, like Dale Dickey as Rosemary and Jeff Hiller as Dale, are also essential to the unique feel of the island town. While season 2 will likely feature new faces, it’s safe to expect these core characters to return.

Widow’s Bay Season 2 Story Details
As a big fan of Widow’s Bay, I’m already thinking about season 2 after that cliffhanger! It’s clear Richard Warren’s deal with the island hasn’t been dealt with, so things are definitely going to get worse. The creator has hinted that season 2 will start with everything seeming peaceful, and I’m guessing that means Tom will initially pretend the curse isn’t real again. But knowing this island, that peace won’t last – it always demands sacrifices, and I’m sure Tom will have to face that reality pretty quickly.
Hiro Murai, who directs and executive produces Widow’s Bay, has given fans an idea of what to expect in season 2. He says the season 1 finale opens the door for a new format where each episode will feature different scares and challenges – essentially becoming an anthology series. But don’t worry, there will still be a central story following Tom as he tries to hide the truth about Evan’s family history.
The best part of this show is its flexibility. It seamlessly balances complex, season-long storylines with self-contained episodes you can enjoy in any order. The season finale cleverly sets things up so they can go back to those standalone episodes, but with a new layer of intrigue. Now, Tom knows Evan’s secret – that he’s the last of his line – and feels compelled to protect him from the rest of the island. He and Bechir share this secret, along with the fact that they both went to Ruth’s with the intention of harming her. This creates a really interesting dynamic and builds on what already made the first season so good, all without fundamentally changing the show’s core appeal.
With season 2 of Widow’s Bay still a couple years away, don’t expect Apple TV to share many details or trailers anytime soon. However, the show has a strong foundation and compelling premise, which suggests the next season will be just as good as the first – full of surprises and offering another exciting adventure for viewers.
