As a seasoned HoYoverse enthusiast with countless hours spent navigating the complexities of Teyvat, I must admit that Honkai Star Rail has caught my attention like a comet streaking across the night sky. The game’s intricate world-building and colorful cast are reminiscent of the universe I’ve come to know and love, albeit with a fresh sci-fi twist.
As a dedicated fan, I must admit that Honkai Star Rail faithfully follows the HoYoverse blueprint: vibrant personalities, an ocean of backstory, and a multitude of names that would make George R.R. Martin pause. This richness is fantastic for world-building, but it can sometimes be a challenge to keep everything straight. Even when the characters are well-written, they can blend together in the vastness of the canon. It doesn’t help that at the start of the game, you’re given the freedom to rename the Trailblazers, effectively setting aside their original names for good. If crafting your own legend is the aim, we won’t object, but let’s hope they don’t end up named March 7th! Here are the main characters’ true names in Honkai Star Rail.
What Are Trailblazer Canon Names in Honkai Star Rail?

To start off with Honkai Star Rail, we encounter the Trailblazers onboard Herta Space Station. Given characters like March 7th, Boothill, and Dr. Ratio, there’s plenty of room for things to take a turn for the worse. Fortunately, in this game, both types of Trailblazer have appealing names that are consistent with Honkai Star Rail lore:
- Male Protagonist – Receptacle Caelus
- Female Protagonist – Receptacle Stelle
While it’s possible to alter your main character’s name after the introduction, their model cannot be swapped, so make sure to choose carefully at the start. The customization options don’t end there though. Initially, your character, either Caelus or Stella (or your Trailblazer), is set with the Destruction path and a Physical element, but you can modify this as gameplay progresses. The name and model you pick won’t influence the gameplay mechanics in any way, so feel free to get imaginative with naming your Trailblazer! This time around, we won’t have a silent protagonist like in HoYoverse – Caelus and Stella are fully voiced characters, regardless of whether you give them a whimsical nickname.
