Wendy’s releases two new breakfast poutines and they’re way different than McDonald’s

Wendy’s is stepping up its breakfast offerings with new poutines, not long after McDonald’s introduced their version of the dish.

Poutine, a popular Canadian dish made with French fries, gravy, and cheese curds, is becoming increasingly well-known and enjoyed in other parts of the world.

Earlier this year, KFC partnered with chef Matty Matheson to introduce poutine to the US. Recently, competitive eater Joey Chestnut won a poutine-eating contest by consuming an impressive 26.5 pounds!

Following McDonald’s recent surprise launch of a breakfast poutine – featuring hollandaise, crispy potatoes, and scrambled eggs – Wendy’s is now entering the breakfast competition with two new menu items of its own.

Wendy’s customers can now enjoy poutine, and they have options to customize it! You can add bacon for a little extra, or include it as part of a breakfast combo meal.

The restaurant chain says its classic poutine is one of its five most popular dishes, based on data from the Skip The Dishes delivery service.

Furthermore, in 2025, they sold over 6.2M poutines.

Honestly, I’m curious to see if Wendy’s breakfast poutines are any good long-term. It’s a bit of a risky move launching them now, because people from Quebec are really passionate about poutine, and they don’t take kindly to anyone messing with it!

Last March, Montreal officials criticized the Boston Red Sox for selling a $39 dish called ‘Lobstah Poutine’ that didn’t include the traditional gravy and cheese curds.
