Star Fox Reveal All But Confirms Switch 2 Ocarina of Time Remake

Nintendo surprised everyone with a Direct presentation revealing a new game for the Switch 2. However, the announcement wasn’t much of a surprise, as details had leaked online months before. The leak also included information about what’s expected to be the Switch 2’s biggest game in 2026.

Nintendo hasn’t said much about its plans for 2026, and their recent presentations have mostly highlighted games from independent developers and other companies. Big news now often appears unexpectedly on the Nintendo Today app, which seems to have replaced their larger, more elaborate Direct presentations as the main source of announcements. However, if a recent rumor is accurate, it’s big enough to warrant a major announcement of its own.

Star Fox Reveal Confirmed One Of 2026’s Biggest Leaks

On May 6, 2026, Nintendo surprised everyone with a new presentation focused on the Star Fox series. They announced a complete remake of Star Fox 64 for the Switch 2, set to release on June 25, 2026. The announcement trailer was generally well-received, possibly because Star Fox fans were still excited from seeing references to the series in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

It’s great to have Fox McCloud back, especially after the disappointing Star Fox Zero. But there’s actually another reason fans are so enthusiastic about the series making a comeback, and surprisingly, it doesn’t even have to do with Star Fox itself.

Star Fox On Switch 2 Is Real — The Ocarina Of Time Remake Might Be On The Way

Okay, so I was listening to NateTheHate’s podcast, and he dropped some seriously exciting news! He said a new Star Fox game is apparently coming out as a major launch title for the Switch 2 this summer. But that wasn’t all – he also claimed a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is heading to the Switch 2 as well! If this is true, Nintendo is really bringing the heat!

With Star Fox officially announced, rumors are swirling that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is also making a comeback. One person, NateTheHate, has accurately predicted these releases, and some jokingly suggest they’d have more luck – and maybe a better career – trying their hand at gambling in Las Vegas instead of predicting video game news.

As a huge Zelda fan, I’m dying to know when Nintendo will finally announce and release the Ocarina of Time remake! I originally heard from NateTheHate that they were aiming for late 2026, but that could put it too close to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. I’m wondering if Nintendo might delay it to 2027 to avoid competing with such a massive game.

Some fans were upset about the leaks of early builds of Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but Nintendo is largely responsible. With the Switch 2 launching in 2026, the games Nintendo is currently releasing – and those planned – feel like second-tier titles, such as the upcoming Yoshi game.

Nintendo missed an opportunity to start the year strong. A big presentation, beginning with news about Star Fox and ending with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, could have really excited fans and reassured them about their Nintendo console. Instead, they’re releasing information randomly, which is strange considering how successful and attention-grabbing their Direct presentations usually are.
