Aquaplus announced that Utawarerumono: Shiro he no Michishirube will be released in Japan on May 28th. The RPG will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
I just read a new interview with Naoya Shimokawa from Aquaplus in Famitsu, and it sounds like Shiro he no Michishirube will be the last game in the Utawarerumono series for a while. It’s a little sad to hear, but it seems like they’re closing that chapter of the story for now.
I just read another interview about the game, and they said a playthrough with full voice acting will probably take around 35 hours. But if you’re a fast reader and skip to the text, you can finish it in about 20 to 25 hours. Sounds pretty good to me!
You’ll find our translation of the interview where Shiro no Michishirube is announced as the last Utawarerumono story just below.

We’re excited about the new game as fans, but we noticed something in the documentation that’s a bit worrying. It says this will be the last game in the Utawarerumono series and the end of the entire Utawarerumono project. Does this mean the series is ending completely, or will the story of characters like Haku and Oshtor simply be paused? We’d like some clarification on what “final entry” means in this context.
Shimokawa announced that this latest installment concludes the main Utawarerumono story, as Munemitsu Suga has finished the tales he wanted to tell. While the free-to-play game Lost Frag will continue to be updated, there are currently no other Utawarerumono projects in development. The team is taking a break from the series to focus on their new game, Jasmine, and exploring other original ideas. The future of Utawarerumono is uncertain, but for now, this marks the end of that chapter.
