As someone who’s spent countless hours battling in the vibrant world of Honkai: Star Rail, I can confidently say that Topaz and her partner Numby are truly a force to be reckoned with! The options for their Planar Ornament are simply mouthwatering, each one offering unique benefits tailored to different playstyles.
In the game “Honkai: Star Rail,” the duo known as Topaz & Numby traverse the Path of the Hunt with a Fire-based element. Numby, Topaz’s trusty sidekick, takes on the role of primary combatant, dishing out most of the damage during battles.
In a manner similar to Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord, Numby possesses its Self-Propelled Device (SPD) for autonomous attacks. However, unlike Jing Yuan’s character, the trotter also launches an attack when Topaz activates her ability. While Topaz’s Ultimate skill primarily amplifies Numby’s damage output, it doesn’t inflict damage on its own. The distinct gameplay of this duo can make figuring out the optimal build for Topaz and Numby in Honkai: Star Rail somewhat confusing.

Topaz’s primary damage is inflicted by Numby’s subsequent strike, which means the 4-piece Firesmith of Lava-Forging isn’t her optimal choice. Instead, players should aim for the 4-piece The Ashblazing Grand Duke. In a debuff team led by Dr. Ratio, the 4-piece Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters is an excellent alternative. If these sets aren’t accessible, players can make do with Relics that provide general, non-situational bonuses such as the 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat (12% ATK increase) and the 4-piece Champion of Streetwise Boxing, until better options become available.
For Topaz’s Planar Ornament, there are four options:
- Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves: The best option for follow-up ATK DPS.
- Izumo Gensei and Takama Divine Realm: Great if there’s another Hunt unit with Topaz, like Dr. Ratio or Feixiao.
- Inert Salsotto: Crit Rate and follow-up attack DMG boost.
- The Wondrous BananAmusement Park: Crit DMG bonus for summoners like Topaz with Numby.
Given that Numby inflicts significantly more damage on the next two strikes following Topaz’s Ultimate, using an Energy Regeneration rope rather than Attack could be a sound strategy.
Topaz & Numby Best Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail
In the game Honkai: Star Rail, many Light Cones for Hunt characters offer bonuses to Skill or Basic Attack Damage, but unfortunately, they’re not particularly suitable for Topaz. Some alternative options for her include her signature weapon “Worrisome, Blissful,” as well as the Simulated-Universe “Cruising in the Stellar Sea,” which is free-to-play, or other free-to-play options like “Final Victor” or “River Flows in Spring.” Additionally, you can consider the Battle Pass Light Cone “Return to Darkness,” and gacha Light Cones such as “Swordplay” and “Only Silence Remains.
As a gamer, I’ve found that some top-tier Light Cones function more like stat-sticks due to their less-than-perfect passive abilities. However, their high base attack and critical boost make them a decent option, especially for weapons such as “In the Night,” “Sleep Like the Dead,” “Baptism of Pure Thought,” and “I Venture Forth to Hunt.” On the other hand, newer players might want to consider the 3-star Light Cone, “Darting Arrow.

Skill has the top priority since it applies the Proof of Debt debuff, which causes the enemy to take more DMG from follow-up hits. This benefits not only Topaz but also other units that play with follow-up attacks, so it’s the most important.
