A life jacket from a Titanic survivor who traveled in first class recently sold for an incredible £670,000 (about $906,000) to a private buyer at auction.
The life vest once belonged to Laura Mabel Francatelli, and she wore it as she boarded a lifeboat during the well-known disaster.
This life jacket is incredibly rare – it’s the only one known to survive from the ship and be offered for sale since it went down.
Record-breaking auction for Titanic memorabilia
According to the BBC, a life jacket recently sold at Henry Aldridge & Son in Devizes for a price far exceeding initial expectations.
Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge expressed his excitement over the huge sale, explaining it demonstrates the continuing worldwide interest in the tale of those onboard.

The vest has shoulder padding and side straps, but what makes it truly special is that it’s signed by Francatelli and the other people who survived with her.
A cushion from a lifeboat on the ship also fetched a remarkable price of £390,000 – the equivalent of $527,000 – at the auction.
A friend of a London tea merchant originally bought the cushion. Sadly, that friend died in the North Atlantic when their ship hit an iceberg.
The Titanic Museum Attraction purchased the seat and will display it for the public to see at its museums in Tennessee and Missouri.
