The Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated top TV shows last night, but “The Last of Us” didn’t take home any of the major awards. Though nominated for Best Drama Series, Best Actor, and Best Actress, it was largely overlooked during the televised ceremony. The show did previously win an award for Outstanding Sound Editing at a separate, non-televised event last week, but this wasn’t highlighted during the main awards show.
The Last of Us made history as the first live-action video game adaptation to receive multiple Primetime Emmy nominations, ultimately winning eight awards from a total of 24, including an Emmy for Nick Offerman. However, at this year’s ceremony, The Last of Us didn’t win any awards. Instead, The Studio led the night with four wins, followed by The Pitt with three Emmys. Two months after its finale, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was recognized as the best talk series. Cristin Milloti of The Penguin won best actress in a limited series, and Dan Gilroy received an Emmy for his writing on the drama series Star Wars: Andor.
Despite not receiving nominations for writing or directing, Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, still commended the talented cast and crew of The Last of Us after the Emmy nominations were announced. A third season of the show is already planned, and it will center around the character Abby. If you missed the awards show, you can find a complete list of winners below.
