The Hardest Boss Fights In Honkai: Star Rail, Ranked

As a seasoned space traveler and Honkai: Star Rail enthusiast, I must say that the battles against these formidable foes have left me breathless! Each encounter is a testament to the sheer skill and determination required to survive in this cosmic arena.

In Honkai: Star Rail, you’ve likely noticed that certain bosses are serious about their role, ranging from formidable space insects to lethal dancing marionettes. The mechanics and damage they deal can make you reconsider your strategy or even return to the relic caves for more practice.

There are options like Casual Mode that lessen the challenge of bosses, but for those looking for a real fight, it’s going to be tough. The numerous bosses you’ll meet on your path demand a combination of strategy, persistence, and careful consideration of your team makeup. From moves that weaken enemies to multi-stage battles, prepare yourself for some of the most challenging boss fights in Honkai: Star Rail.

10.

Doomsday Beast

In your initial encounter with the Doomsday Beast, it serves as the primary boss you’ll face. However, Welt may rescue you during your first skirmish; but don’t count on that repeat performance. Its left and right limbs inflict substantial damage in the realms of Imagination and Quantum physics. The heart of the battlefield houses the Antimatter Engine, amplifying its overall power and unleashing a potent single-target assault once fully charged.

To defeat the two-part creature effectively, it’s essential to penetrate each of its three sections. This weakens the Doomsday Beast, making it susceptible to assaults, and providing you a chance to inflict heavy damage. When progressing into the second phase, its attacks grow much more lethal, featuring increased damage and additional debilitating effects.

9.

Cocolia, Mother of Deception

As a devoted admirer, I can confidently say that stepping into the arena against Cocolia is where the real challenge begins. Initially, you engage her as a typical human adversary, but once she taps into the power of Stellaron, she transforms into the climactic boss battle within the Jarilo-VI narrative. Armed with frost-bitten assaults, Cocolia has the uncanny ability to chill your team before they even register the impact. Once she progresses to her second phase, she unleashes catastrophic area-of-effect magical attacks that will leave your healers in a state of chaos.

To ensure your team’s success, consider including a character with the “Res stat” or the ability to remove debuffs. Failure to do so may result in Cocolia tearing apart your team while they are immobilized. If you find yourself under-leveled or lacking characters who can deal damage, be prepared as she will present a formidable wall of icy destruction.

8.

Ten Stonehearts: Aventurine of Stratagems

Engaging in conflict with Aventurine resembles waging war against a powerful Casino Empire, and it’s crucial to bear in mind that the house almost always prevails. During this fight, Aventurine showers your team with ‘phantom dice’ causing widespread area-of-effect damage, but his true advantage lies in his unique move.

As a gamer, I find myself squaring off against Aventurine, who has the knack for summoning a set of dice. If I can’t manage to roll numbers that add up to more than what he rolls, my team takes a hit from substantial Imaginary damage, and we’ll also have to deal with an action delay. In his second phase, Aventurine kicks his gambling game into high gear, making me roll even higher totals or face some serious repercussions.

7.

Harmonious Choir

The Harmonious Choir is a blend of the mysterious and intellectually challenging. This leader consistently pesters your team members, shielding its durability by employing melodious spells and minions. This creates an uncommon element that compels you to reassess your combat tactics.

This enemy’s actions might not be as powerful as a truck crash, but without tools to remove debuffs, its capacity to put your characters to sleep could pose a significant challenge. Brute force won’t work here because the enemy’s enormous durability meter makes it hard to take down. Instead, you’ll find yourself in a constant struggle to survive. As the Choir’s damage increases dramatically during the third phase, this battle essentially boils down to a race to apply break effects.

6.

The Past, Present, and Eternal Show

The “Past, Present, and Eternal Spectacle” transforms conflicts into intense, theatrical productions instead of ordinary fights. Its diverse arsenal of attacks gives each action a sense of grandeur within a deadly narrative. Each performer in this show excels in a unique area: The Past focuses on inflicting direct damage, The Present bombards you with Damage Over Time (DoT) effects, and The Future cripples you with debuffs.

In its second phase, it performs a special move called “Dance for Harmony,” which brings together all the acts in synchrony, dealing damage based on the combined strengths of your opponents’ team. Defeating the collective health of the trio (Past, Present, and Eternal Show) means defeating them simultaneously. If you lack strategy or foresight, these three acts will put on a show you won’t soon forget.

5.

Starcrusher Swarm King: Skaracabaz

Skaracabaz, the ruler of the Starcrusher Swarm, resembles a colossal insectoid airship, brimming with hordes of airborne reinforcements ready to overwhelm you with a barrage of Wind damage. By himself, he can unleash devastating Quantum-based laser attacks that will wreak havoc on those who are not adequately equipped to handle intense assaults. What truly sets Skaracabaz apart is his ability to summon extra forces, making him a formidable adversary.

During the fight, Skaracabaz launches numerous tiny drones that detonate repeatedly against your squad. The resulting damage can escalate rapidly, making it essential for you to decide on a strategy: either focus on taking out Skaracabaz himself or deal with his drone minions.

4.

Something Unto Death

Something Unto Death embodies death itself, turning the fight into a grim chess match rather than a simple brawl. Its attacks revolve around the “Morbid Dream” status effect, which deals a killing blow to your characters and leaves nothing but a grave marker behind. The only way to free your characters from this state is to attack these markers until they break, forcing you to choose between saving allies or attacking the boss.

During its second stage, Something Unto Death grows more powerful, acquiring a Area-of-Effect (AoE) variant of its Morbid Dream attack titled “Watery Dissolution.” If you haven’t adequately prepared to counter these marks, this mechanic may swiftly overpower your team. It is crucial to have characters with abilities to remove these marks, or else the grim reaper from Honkai: Star Rail might trap you in an endless dream.

3.

Stellaron Hunter: Sam

In a relentless struggle against Stellaron Hunter, Sam exhibits sheer endurance. Cycling between Normal and Secondary Combustion mode, Sam employs their normal state for deflecting attacks. Upon entering the Secondary Combustion mode, the real battle unfolds. With fresh pyro attacks, each action of your skill points will progressively whittle down the health of your units.

To prevent yourself from disintegrating, you must forcefully breach Sam’s defense at the moment they transition into their second phase. Should you withstand the intense heat attack by this mechanical combatant, there could be an opportunity for you to emerge victorious over them.

2.

Borisin Warhead: Hoolay

Holley is an enraged werewolf warrior whose thirst for blood is insatiable. Entering his “Moon Fury” state empowers him, accumulating “Anger” stacks, reaching eight of which triggers a powerful Lightning assault. This Moon Fury also influences the multitudes of Wolftroopers he calls to join the fight.

During the second stage of the battle, Hoolay amplifies his power even more, enabling him to launch a potent area-of-effect attack. Hoolay, a natural leader among pack members, excels at gradually accumulating strength, creating an impression that he’s perpetually on the verge of unleashing turmoil.

1.

Shadow of “Feixiao”

The “Feixiao” boss looms ominously, bringing a storm of power that can easily overpower an unready group. This formidable version of Feixiao consists of three increasingly challenging phases. To add to the challenge, this Feixiao confronts you with her Ecliptic Inner Beast, which boasts three distinct body parts ready to tear through your team.

If you successfully advance to her third stage, it’s essential that you make her vulnerable by breaking her defenses. If you fail, she’ll retaliate with an extremely powerful attack called “Sweep the Heavens, Swallow the Earth,” which not only inflicts heavy damage but strengthens any parts of her that remain unbroken. Remember, Feixiao was chosen as one of the seven Arbiter-Generals for a reason, and this battle will serve as a reminder of why.
