Be warned, this contains spoilers for episode 5 of The Boys season 5! Jensen Ackles, who plays a character in The Boys, recently spent time with some former colleagues.
The popular Prime Video series The Boys, a gritty take on superheroes, is heading towards its highly anticipated finale. Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson (which ran for 72 issues between 2006 and 2012), the show has diverged significantly from its source material, offering viewers plenty of unexpected twists and turns.
Okay, so episode 5 of The Boys Season 5, “One-Shots,” was a blast with some fun cameos – Seth Rogen and Will Forte popped up, which was cool, but the real treat for me was seeing Jensen Ackles reunite with his Supernatural co-stars, Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki. They had a quick appearance, but I just learned about a deleted scene that would have taken it to another level! Apparently, they were supposed to play their Supernatural characters, which would’ve been an awesome meta moment for fans like me. It’s a shame it didn’t make the final cut, but I’m glad we’re getting a glimpse of what could have been.
As a longtime fan, I have to say the recently released deleted scene with Ackles, Collins, and Padalecki felt much more like a genuine send-off to Supernatural than what ultimately made it into the episode. They really leaned into the show’s history, even dropping fun Easter eggs – like a mention of Dean’s beloved magazine, Busty Asian Beauties! Prime Video shared the footage on X, and it immediately sparked a huge reaction from Supernatural fans who were thrilled to see that classic humor and inside jokes included.
Jared Padalecki and Antony Starr’s characters, Soldier Boy and Homelander, are searching for V1—the original, incredibly powerful formula that grants superpowers and immortality. This is different from the Compound V that gives Homelander his abilities. Their search leads them to a mansion owned by Mister Marathon, where they encounter guests played by Seth Rogen, Chris Forte, Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Craig Robinson.
The final episodes of The Boys are promising a shocking conclusion, with tensions rising as the series nears its end. U.S. fans can watch the finale a day before everyone else, and even experience it in select theaters. These special screenings will feature 4DX technology, enhancing the impact of the show’s action sequences.
The Boys is available to watch on Prime Video.
