The Best March 7th Build in Honkai Star Rail

As a seasoned space traveler who’s seen more planets than I can count, let me tell you about my beloved Astral Express member, March 7th. This girl has been my trusty companion through thick and thin, and I must say, she knows how to hold her own in the harsh universe of Honkai Star Rail.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that gacha games have gained a reputation for emptying players’ wallets. However, when it comes to HoYoverse, they stand out as one of the most player-friendly companies in this gaming genre. In fact, their recent titles are incredibly generous, offering numerous characters for free to help you progress smoothly through the early stages of gameplay. One such character is March 7th, whose odd name belies her immense value. She’s an exceptional unit that deals substantial damage and offers robust defense for your team. If you’re planning to tackle more challenging content, I’ve got a fantastic build for March 7th in Honkai Star Rail, complete with both of her paths.

(The update was made on August 4, 2024. It included the initial build from March 7th and an additional build associated with the introduction of her new Path in Version 2.4).

Best Preservation Build for March 7th

Let’s begin with our first strategy on March 7th focusing on Preservation. Prior to acquiring Fu Xuan and Aventurine, March 7th was one of the rare tank characters in the game, alongside Gepard. Since she’s freely available for all players, it’s not a bad choice to make her the lead character in your team.

Light Cones

The Best March 7th Build in Honkai Star Rail

Although she may not excel in the role, should none of the previously mentioned characters be available, she could perform admirably during specific battles. Here’s a suggested setup for her character using Light Cones:

Light ConeDescription
Moment of Victory (Best/5-Star)Increases the wearer’s DEF by 24% and Effect Hit Rate by 24%. Increases the chance for the wearer to be attacked by enemies. When the wearer is attacked, increase their DEF by an extra 24% until the end of the wearer’s turn.
Landau’s Choice (4-Star)The wearer is more likely to be attacked, and DMG taken is reduced by 16%.
Day One of My New Life (4-Star)Increases wearer’s DEF by 16%. After entering battle, increase the All-Type RES of all allies by 8%. Effects of the same type cannot stack.

The Moment of Victory Light Cone proves ideal for March 7th in your Preservation build within Honkai Star Rail. What sets this Light Cone apart is its ability to heighten the chances of an attack on March 7th, thereby instigating her counterattacks when her shield is active and boosting her defenses as she sustains damage.

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that when it comes to making strategic decisions in games, I’ve learned to appreciate versatility and value for money. In this case, Landau’s Choice seems like an excellent option for those on a budget. While it may not offer the DEF increase found in other choices, it still delivers comparable results.

Relics & Stats

For March 7th, and on her Preservation build specifically, the suitable set is the Knight of Purity’s Palace. This tank-oriented set isn’t difficult to gather. Moreover, the Broken Keel is crucial for her Planar Ornaments, as they enhance your team’s Critical Damage under certain statistical requirements. Regarding stats, here’s what she requires:

Relic/OrnamentStat Priority
Body PieceDEF%
FeetSpeed
Planar SphereDEF%
Link RopeDEF%

In terms of the inconsistent loot drops for relics, you’re probably going to see many Defense% boosts, which seems to be the common outcome. For optimal performance on March 7th, prioritize Defense% as your main stat, followed by Energy Regeneration and Effect Resistance. Emphasizing these three aspects will significantly enhance March 7th’s tank capabilities.

Team Composition

Regrettably, March 7th doesn’t stand out in Honkai Star Rail, as the game offers more robust tanks. However, if she’s your sole source of sustain in the game, there’s only one team where she truly excels.

  • Sustain/Tank: March 7th
  • Support: Robin
  • Main DPS: Topaz
  • Sub DPS: Clara

As a long-time gamer who has tried countless teams in various games throughout my life, I must say that this particular team stands out as one of the most challenging but rewarding ones I’ve come across. While it may not cater to the Free-to-Play (F2P) crowd, for those players who have invested time and resources into the game, it offers a unique and powerful playstyle.

Best Hunt Build for March 7th

In the latest update, Version 2.4 of “Honkai Star Rail”, March 7th now has a fresh journey and new construction options starting from March 7th. Instead of her prior path, March 7th, being part of The Hunt, is remarkable and somewhat self-referential, even as a 4-star character. She dishes out significant damage and complements top-tier follow-up attackers such as Yunli and Dr. Ratio exceptionally well.

Light Cones

The Best March 7th Build in Honkai Star Rail

To achieve optimal performance in the March 7th build of Honkai Star Rail, it’s highly beneficial to have a 5-star Light Cone if you want this character to pack a powerful punch, similar to a truck. Although there’s a decent 4-star one she can use, a Premium 5-star will significantly enhance her abilities. Here are some top recommendations:

Light ConeDescription
In the Night (Best/5-Star)Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18%. While the wearer is in battle, for every 10 SPD that exceeds 100, the DMG of the wearer’s Basic ATK and Skill is increased by 6% and the CRIT DMG of their Ultimate is increased by 12%. This effect can stack up to 6 times.
Baptism of Pure Thought (5-Star)Increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 20%. For every debuff on the enemy target, the wearer’s CRIT DMG dealt against this target increases by 8%, stacking up to 3 times. When using their Ultimate to attack the enemy target, the wearer receives the Disputation effect, which increases DMG dealt by 36% and enables their follow-up attacks to ignore 24% of the target’s DEF. This effect lasts for 2 turns.
Swordplay (4-Star)For each time the wearer hits the same target, DMG dealt increases by 8%, stacking up to 5 times. This effect will be dispelled when the wearer changes targets.

If you’re aiming for a simple DPS build without additional features, The Night as your Light Cone weapon is an excellent choice. Its enhanced critical rate and stackable damage bonus make it perfect for any Hunt character. If you don’t have The Night, Dr. Ratio’s premium Light Cone is also effective, but it performs better in teams that make follow-up attacks, which are quite popular right now. In the absence of either, the stackable buff from Swordplay is a good alternative, but remember to maximally level Superimpose this Light Cone for best results.

Relics & Stats

On March 7th, this character in Honkai Star Rail shares the same stat requirements as other DPS characters, making it relatively straightforward to build her optimally. For the relic set, the Wastelander of Banditry Desert is highly recommended. As for Planar Ornaments, consider using Rutilant Arena for additional CRIT boost. Here are the key stats you should focus on:

Relic/OrnamentStat
Body PieceCRIT Rate
Feet PieceATK% or Speed (Preferably ATK%)
Planar SphereATK%
Link RopeATK%

Instead of just focusing on other aspects, prioritize enhancing her Critical Damage (Crit DMG) and Critical Rate (Crit Rate) above all else. If the stat improvements while leveling your Relics aren’t favorable, you can primarily concentrate on Attack Percentage (ATK%). However, remember that Critical Damage and Rate are of utmost importance.

Team Composition

Instead of sticking strictly to a preservation-focused setup, the DPS character on March 7th can be integrated into numerous Honkai Star Rail team configurations. With a variety of options available, here are some suggestions for team combinations that you can experiment with.

Follow-Up Attack TeamImaginary Super Break Team
Main DPS: March 7th
Sub DPS: Dr. Ratio
Support: Robin
Sustain: Aventurine
Main DPS: March 7th
Support 1: Trailblazer (Harmony)
Support 2: Ruan Mei
Sustain: Gallagher

As someone who has been a long-time fan of these games, I must say that both teams are truly impressive. However, my personal preference leans towards the second one due to my fondness for the Superbreak mechanic. It adds an exciting and strategic element that keeps me engaged during gameplay. Now, it’s important to note that the best team ultimately depends on your specific play style and resources.
