The game offers diverse combat options, letting you fight up close or from a distance. However, this variety doesn’t actually make things easier – in fact, it adds complexity. A key example of this is the ‘Temporal Health‘ mechanic.
This idea isn’t new to survival games, though it’s rarely called out specifically. It’s not difficult to grasp, but can be frustrating if you’re not already familiar with it.
I’ve been checking out Temporal Health, and I wanted to share what I’ve learned – basically, a guide to understanding it and getting the most out of it. I’ll also quickly cover the healing options Windrose offers, just in case Temporal Health isn’t your thing. It’s good to have options, right?
What is Temporal Health?

This isn’t your regular health bar; it’s something unique. In this RPG, when you take damage, a portion of your health will turn a see-through red – that’s Temporal Health.
This is health that regenerates briefly after you’ve been hit. However, it can only be recovered by attacking with melee weapons – we want players to take some risks and be rewarded for doing so.
Recovering Temporal Health
When you get hurt, you have a choice: retreat and recover health, or push forward and try to regain it. This can be risky, particularly if you’re already close to being defeated.
Here are some skills that can significantly improve your experience with Temporal Health. Focusing on these could help you get the most out of it.
- You Will Answer for This —Increases Temporal Health gain when taking damage by 25%.
- Retribution — Your attacks are 40% more effective in converting Temporal Health into Health
If you’re running out of healing items, these skills could be crucial in your next battle. If you’re preparing to fight a boss, it might be worth changing your skill setup to help you last longer.
Other Kinds of Healing
Temporal Health is the fastest way to regain health during a fight, but there are safer options. These usually require you to create some space between yourself and your opponent.
Any healing items used will automatically negate any Temporal Health.
To make potions, you’ll need an alchemy table, plus healing herbs and clay. These ingredients will create potions that either immediately restore health or heal you gradually over time.
- Bandage (Over-Time) — Restores 900 Health over time. Lasts for 30s. Taking Damage interrupts the effect.
- Minor Health Potion (Instant) — Instantly restores 35% Health.
- Health Potion (Instant) — Instantly restores 55% Health.
- Great Health Potion (Instant) — Instantly restores 80% Health.
Now that you have all this information, you’ll be well on your way to achieving Pirate Legend status! Don’t forget to savor the experience – enjoy the sea breeze and the scent of adventure along the way.
