Steam user’s 40,000 game collection costs more than the average house

A Steam user recently reached an incredible milestone: they now own 40,000 games on the platform, representing a collection worth a huge amount of money – likely hundreds of thousands of dollars.

SonixLegend on Steam has become the first player to collect over 40,000 games, earning the exclusive Game Collector badge. It took Sonix more than 15 years to build this massive library, adding an average of seven new games every day, and now boasts a collection of 40,031 titles according to Steam’s statistics.

But just how much does a collection of this size cost?

Steam account value is more than a house

SteamDB calculates that Sonix’s game collection is currently worth over $642,000 if bought at the current listed prices. Even if valued at the lowest possible prices, the collection is still worth more than $248,000. On average, each game in his collection costs over $8.

Let’s look at the U.S. housing market to understand this better. As of mid-2025, Zillow estimates the typical home is worth around $363,505. However, homes were actually selling for an average of $512,800 in the second quarter of 2025, according to a recent real estate report.

Even at its reduced price, Sonix’s digital library costs around $248,755 – a substantial amount compared to the average home price. At its full price of around $642,188, the collection actually costs more than many homes in America.

Honestly, in a lot of places across the US – especially if you’re not looking in those super expensive coastal cities – that amount of money could actually get you a pretty good house. Like, a real home with a yard and everything. It’s surprising, but true!

He’s not alone at the top

Sonix isn’t the only serious game collector, but they’re currently the leader. The next closest collector, Ian Brandon Anderson, has around 39,500 games, just below Sonix’s total. Several top collectors have recently reached impressive milestones (35,000, 36,000, 39,000, and 40,000 games), indicating a recent increase in dedicated, large-scale collecting.

It’s interesting that even though Sonix has a huge game library on Steam, their profile level isn’t very high – it’s currently at 303. This is quite a bit lower than players like Stasik, who are at level 6,020. Steam level usually shows how much time someone has spent collecting badges, earning experience, and trading cards, rather than simply how many games they own.

What’s the most-played game in a 40,000-game library?

It’s not a brand-new, big-budget game-it’s Alien Swarm, a free cooperative shooter Valve released back in 2010. And he’s put over 550 hours into it! This game is one of 34 on Sonix’s account where he’s earned every single achievement. Even with so many games available, older, free titles can still be really enjoyable.
