The search for the next James Bond is still ongoing, but whoever Denis Villeneuve picks will need to meet certain requirements.
Okay, so Daniel Craig’s run as James Bond finally ended with a seriously explosive finale – literally! The last movie, *No Time to Die*, really went all out, and it felt like a proper send-off for his version of the character.
It’s been almost four years since Daniel Craig stopped playing James Bond, and we still haven’t found a new actor to take on the role. Recently, there have been some changes behind the scenes: Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have given Amazon more creative control, Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film, and Steven Knight, known for *Peaky Blinders*, is writing the screenplay.
Everyone’s been buzzing about the next James Bond, right? Will they be a British actor? Maybe someone Black? A lot of people were hoping for Henry Cavill, but I don’t think that’s happening. Now, we’re finally getting a little hint of what the producers are thinking.
New James Bond actor hoped to be young “unknown” British male

According to Deadline, Denis Villeneuve will seriously begin his search for the next James Bond once he finishes filming *Dune: Part Three* next year. The producers are hoping to cast someone relatively unknown – a ‘fresh face’ – rather than a huge celebrity.
The actor they’re looking for is a British man, likely between his late twenties and early thirties. According to someone involved in the casting process, he needs to immediately project a physically intimidating presence – someone who looks capable of overpowering you with his bare hands very quickly. The impression needs to be instant.
It seems Tom Holland is no longer a likely candidate for James Bond. While Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack Lowden could potentially be considered, they might be a bit too old by the time filming starts in 2027. Unfortunately, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy are probably too old to take on the role, so fans hoping to see them as Bond will likely be disappointed.
Deadline suggests Knight and Villeneuve might delve into Bond’s early life as a Royal Navy officer, showing how he transitioned into his role with MI6.
When asked if James Bond could be played by an actor of color, a source said, “Yes, potentially.” They emphasized that the most important factor would be whether the actor is a good fit for the role.
We’ve received a huge number of suggestions – both from well-known and unknown sources. However, the casting for the project hasn’t started yet, and won’t until Denis Villeneuve completes work on the Dune film.
