Star Wars Confirms Return of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor — Coming Soon

Get ready to see Cassian Andor return! To mark the tenth anniversary of Rogue One, a new story is coming that focuses on his early days as a smuggler.

The first issue of the Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor comic book arrives on May 6, 2026. Marvel Comics describes it as a story that explores Cassian Andor’s past, showing him on a dangerous solo mission. According to Marvel, the story follows Andor as he goes undercover in the criminal world of Kafrene, trying to outrun both Imperial troopers and bounty hunters in a high-stakes spy adventure. Benjamin Percy writes the story, with art by Luke Ross.

Andor Gets Lost in Kafrene in New Prequel Story

I just got a sneak peek at the new Rogue One story, and it’s so cool! It shows Cassian Andor wandering around the city of Kafrene, and it really sets the stage for who he is. Apparently, he was known as someone super stubborn and willing to use force to get what he needed, which meant he caused problems for both sides of the war – the Empire and the Rebellion! It’s a great look into his character.

As the story continues, Andor and Kaytoo argue about how crucial their mission is. Andor stresses they’re already short on time, and declares he won’t calm down until the Empire is defeated—or he’s no longer alive.

The first issue of the Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor comic book series will be available in comic shops with a primary cover by David Marquez. Marvel has also announced several alternate covers, including one yet to be revealed, and a special cover featuring a photo of Diego Luna in his role as the character. Each copy will cost $4.99.

Star Wars Fans Crave More Andor Stories Following Prequel Series Ending

Ever since he first appeared in Rogue One in 2016, Cassian Andor has stood out as a compelling character. In 2022, he became the focus of his own series, Andor, which spanned two seasons and directly led into the beginning of the first two Star Wars films.

Diego Luna recently received widespread praise for his portrayal of Cassian Andor, and many believe he’s the key to the character’s popularity and believability. He helped make Andor stand out from other Star Wars stories. Cassian is a compelling character because he’s both flawed and relatable, and the Disney+ series Andor gave him a fantastic story arc that solidified his place as one of the best characters in the Star Wars universe.

Now that Andor Season 2 has finished, it seems unlikely we’ll see the character in future Star Wars movies or shows. However, comics like Marvel’s Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1 provide a great way to delve into his backstory and continue his story.

Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian Andor #1 goes on sale May 6 from Marvel Comics.
