Splitgate 2 Beta Finally Ending As Full Launch Nears In December

Splitgate 2 is leaving beta mode after a lengthy testing period. The developers have announced that the beta servers will go offline on December 4th to allow them to get ready for the official game launch later in December. Once that happens, the current season, battle passes, and player rankings will reset.

The game has changed dramatically since its beta release in May, according to the development team. They initially focused on factions and abilities, but have since completely reworked the core elements that make Splitgate unique – its portals, movement system, and overall gameplay experience.

Splitgate is a fast-paced, futuristic arena shooter where players battle using portals. You drop into levels with weapons and try to defeat opponents by cleverly using portals to outmaneuver them, move quickly, and aim accurately. It’s a unique blend of classic arena shooting and puzzle-solving, letting you attack enemies from unexpected directions.

Splitgate 2 went back into beta testing after its initial launch on June 6th revealed significant issues the game wasn’t prepared for. Players also reacted negatively to expensive in-game purchases, like an $80 bundle that was quickly reduced in price. An apology from the studio head, which included blaming a former employee responsible for monetization, didn’t help the situation. Because the developers had previously criticized other games, these problems were especially scrutinized. 1047 Games admitted Splitgate 2 needed a lot more development and decided to re-release it as a beta to address the issues and regain player confidence.

The team decided to restart development with a new beta version, allowing them to completely rebuild the game. They removed factions and changed abilities into temporary power-ups. Popular game modes like King of the Hill, Domination, and Team Deathmatch have been reintroduced. Along with these changes, the developers added new maps and weapons, improved the menus, and made many adjustments based on what players told them.
