PlayStation players could see videos during loading screens
Sony has patented a new system that uses artificial intelligence to entertain players during game loading times. As reported by MP1st, the system would show short videos in a picture-in-picture format while the game loads in the background.
The patent describes various kinds of content, including short videos from social media and exciting moments from gameplay. It also details displaying a report on other players, showing their rankings and the equipment they’re using.
This system can also show advertisements, either related to the game you’re playing or for something else entirely. As an example, while playing Fortnite, you might see an ad for the latest season or a new character skin available in the shop.
This AI system will estimate how long you’ll be waiting and automatically choose videos to entertain you during that time. If the game starts sooner than predicted, the video will smoothly stop or fade out so it doesn’t interrupt your gameplay.
This is currently just a patent application, meaning it’s not confirmed that this feature will be available soon. However, it suggests something Sony could be planning for the PlayStation 6.
