As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours bending elements and saving the world with my favorite animated heroes, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming “AAA” RPG based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe!
Leading game developers Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive are collaborating on a fresh “AAA” role-playing game set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, specifically under the title Avatar Legends, encompassing the original animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, its successor The Legend of Korra, and associated spin-offs.
The companies have unveiled their upcoming game, however it’s still in its early stages, with no visuals or release date disclosed as of yet. Saber and Paramount have clarified that the game won’t be based on any particular Avatar Legends story, but will instead offer an original narrative occurring millennia prior to The Last Airbender. Players will assume the role of a fresh, never-before-seen Avatar character, which in essence seems similar to Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, but set within the Avatar Legends universe.
The world of Avatar Legends has a history with video game adaptations, many of which were released during the PS2 and Wii periods. More recent examples include the 2023 action-adventure release, Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance, available on PC and consoles. In January 2023, a mobile game titled Avatar Generations was introduced, but it ceased operation in December of the same year. In April 2024, a collaboration between Fortnite and both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra took place, offering playable characters like Korra, Aang, Toph, Zuko, and Katara, as well as assorted cosmetic items.
As a devoted enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming Role-Playing Game (RPG), the Avatar Legends, which is currently being developed for various platforms, although we don’t have exact details yet.
